"I got a call from T.O. this morning," Thomas said. "He was making a lot of noise, talking about how they were going to whup us and that we should get out popcorn.
"I told him, 'Man, that's so disrespectful.' So after the game, I had to be sure to get me some popcorn. Truth is, I like mine with a little more butter."

I don't know if this is true but at any rate TO is such an idiot.

He was probably joking around (at least I hope so) but that still shows how stupid TO can be. His mind should have been focused on the game not callin' AD up to trash talk.

Thomas said it was that morning so I doubt you would have heard about it earlier, as AD probably didn't really tell anyone until after the game.

I don't have any problem with smack talk. It adds spice to the game, adds entertainment value.

When will players learn not to say stupid things like "Get your popcorn ready" before a big game which they end up losing? They look so stupid.

    In TO's case, probably never.

Donte Stallworth was asked about the popcorn comments during an interview after the game....he rolled his eyes and laughed a bit and said, nah...that wasn't any issue at all.

All this popcorn stuff post game is meaningless. I would be more than willing to bet that the Pats weren't really bothered by that comment at all. Now the comments about the past SB wins being tainted....I think we all know what they thought about that...

Its interesting in that TO wants it both ways. He dosn't seem to take into account that they may lose the game. I know that you as a player would not dwell on losing, but there is a part of us all that knows that someone has to win, and someone has to lose (ties aside).

I have thought this for a while, and this whole scene really underscores it for me. TO is an entertainer. If you were to get an answer from BB about the guy regarding this question, "is football important to him?", I am not sure what he would say. To me, football is important to him in that it is a vehicle for other things for TO. This is not a bad thing. And, there are many players who parley their football experience to Coaching, Broadcasting, etc. With TO, I think he is and will be an entertainer. Maybe even movies, or talk shows or who the heck knows. He is a little wild, which adds to his entertainment value, but he could very easily make the wrong comment and cause a problem for himself.

i heard keyshawn say something about it on MNF. He was talking in general about "cowboy players calling other players asking flavors of popcorn" speaking generally about distractions or something.
No names were mentioned but it seems it happened. If so its ridiculous IMO and says a lot about the pats players not making a big deal of it in the media until thomas's comments.

I would agree with you ,and also look at Chad Johnson WR from the Bengals, he is also an entertainer, but appears to know when to shut it off after the game. It also doesn't seem to bother other players like TO does.

Honestly, I dont think the popcorn note was trash talk or a big deal...He was just stating that it was going to be an interesting game to watch -- get your popcorn ready & sit down by the tv...

And it was an interesting game to watch...The most exciting game the pats have played this season thus far...

As far as calling AD up...if they're friends, then its all in good humor...If they're not, then its kind of weird

I'm usually won to defend those like T.O. form the self righteous old-timers who have this moral indignation over flamboyant WRs etc. (and I think there are usually racist overtones to these criticisms imo), but the thing about T.O. that makes me not like him, and it may seem random in the entire grand scheme of everything he's done; is that shot of him just laying into the Offensive Coordinator at San Francisco. It was just so uncalled for and disrespectful to do to a grown man on national tv for entirely selfish reasons. And I'll never respect T.O. after that.

Flamboyance has nothing to do with race little buddy.

The thing you need to keep in mind is that almost ALL FLAMBOYANCE is now against the rules. So that means you're saying the NFL is racists.

If I have a party and ask all my guests not to trash-talk one another, that has nothing to do with race...stop being so paranoid. It's a TEAM game, Not a ME game...save the dancin' for Madden 07!

Wow that was condescending. Thank you. And paranoid? I'm white by the way. And I didn't really want to get into this, but I wouldn't call the NFL racist but that doesn't mean that they can't react in a subconsciously racist way. The same way the NBA supposedly has an "image problem" because of rap and one fight, where as MLB has fights every week, but no one complains of reform there.

OMG racist overtones. Dude, you have been drinking that touchy feely. lilly a$$ed, politically correct liberal kool-aid way too long.

the picture i can't get out of my head, is T.O. doing sit ups in his driveway in front of a hoarde of camers after Andy Reid kicked him off the Eagles.

Just one in the long list of fond T.O. memories.
He's over the top eccentric, arrogant and a shameless self promoter.

No questioning his heart after the gut check performance he put in against us in the '04 SB,

That's actually pretty humorous. To me, for a guy to pick up the phone and talk trash like that means that he likes Adalius, and I would not take it to mean anything negative.

I think we all know that some of the worst trash talking goes on between friends, right? It's half assed trash talk and it probably makes it a little more fun to butt heads. I could do that. Sure, it sounds like it's more fun than being a tight ass.
