Suspect drafting past few years

The 2007 draft brought the team an excellent young safety, the game's best slot receiver and one of the 5 best wide receivers of all time. Complaining because of a 4th, 5th, four 6ths and 2 7ths is beyond being greedy. People pointing to the number of picks consistently ignore the location of the picks when complaining, and that makes their argument worse than useless, because it makes it misleading.

Smith was traded because of a perceived logjam on the defensive line. He was a 6th round draft pick who brought back a 5th rounder in that trade.

O'Callaghan was on track to push Kaczur for the starting RT job until injuries derailed him. He's now starting for the Chiefs.

Andrews was a top special teams player until legal trouble got him cut from the team.

Stevenson was in the Texans mini-camp when he suffered what's likely to be a career ending injury.

As for the "UFL hopefuls" line.... Rogers and Richardson are both still in the NFL.

The point is that you won't be very good for very long if you are only hitting on one maybe two draft picks a year for consecutive years. None of the players you listed are still with the team so listing the reasons why or accompishments with other teams doesn't really help your argument.

That draft has given the team 3 players that are still on the team, all of whom are starters and at least two are pro bowl caliber players, and just gained them a 5th round pick with the Smith trade.

I think Brandon Tate and Brace are going to surprise a lot of people!!
I see so many qualities in Tate!!
He will be our third reciever, and our offense will be unstoppable, you can double coverage welker, moss, but you can't double coverage three amazing recievers!!
It's a question of time...

Let me clarify this for you, Randy Moss was drafted in the 1st round by Minn in 1998. Wes Welker was undrafted in 2004 and signed as an UDFA by SD. They were not drafted by the Patriots. Any way you want to spin it, there is only one player drafted by the Pats in 2007 still on the team.

Yes, if you completely ignore the reality of that 2007 draft, which entailed giving up 3 draft picks in order to get Randy Moss and Wes Welker, you can make that draft look relatively weak.

If you don't try to play games with that draft, though, it becomes one of the better drafts in Patriots history.
