    Really? IS this recovery?

Jobless Claims in U.S. Rose to Highest Since November - Bloomberg

I can't wait for the administration announcement about how the jobless claims would be over 1,000,000 if not for their stimulus program.

Why do they keep saying claims shot up "UNEXPECTEDLY" ? Whay would the result of moronic economic be expected to do anything but destroy jobs?

So this is what an Obama-Reid-Pelosi 'recovery' looks like. Wish they hadn't done anything and unemployment had peaked at 8.3% as Obama claimed would happen if we didn't give him a 800B union slush fund to play with.

The only way you seem to get any joy, the only way your world view remains justified, is if the economy stays in the crapper and your fellow countrymen continue to suffer.

    How sad for you.

Unfortunatly I predicted this would happen when the 'stimulus' was put in place.

BTW you are very poor as a mind reader perhaps you are projecting.

We don't root against the economy, that's just plain dumb. If anything, we're mocking the policies we saw as wrongheaded from the get-go and the political spin attempts by the administration to make it look better than is evident in the mirror.

And how is that any different from the behavior of the left during the summer of 2008? I know you think your *&^% don't stink, but it does.

    There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with;

    1. Predicting a negative economic outlook
    2. Talking about how bad the economy is on this board
    3. Realizing that's it's FACT, not opinion, that we've never entered "RecoverY"

I LOVE how some dopes don't like people to discuss economic reality and often like to say "You don't want the economy to do well, do you?"

It's the exact same thing as talking about the bad weather and having someone say "You don't want the sun to come out, do you?"

84% of Americans don't believe we've entered any form of recovery, so you're in the majorty and a true realist, because it's the truth.

We could cut taxes and reduce the size of government, but that's the strategy that led to the Great Depression. But, the other problem, of course, is that the Republicans really do not have a coherent proposal. If we had a Republican administration, would we see the record deficits of Reagan and Bush II? Would we see the strategy of Coolidge and Hoover to cut taxes and reduce government that led us into the Great Depression? Clearly, the world is faced now with a global recession. Obama's choices aren't great. My view is that he needs to raise taxes on the wealthy, so that the government can pump more money into the economy, money that will be spent rather than invested or saved. Many liberals predicted the stimulus was not enough (including Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman), and more would need to be done. That appears to be the case.

Under Reagan, the Republicans, to address the Carter recession, created record deficits by cutting the budget, cutting taxes, and creating record deficits. It worked for about 8 years. Under Clinton, to address the Reagan/Bush recession, Clinton raised taxes a little and launched a global effort to market American products. Overall it worked quite well. under Bush II, we saw tax cuts and increased deficits, and that led us into the current crisis. Under Obama, so far we've seen significant spending, bu

Haven't you heard? This braindead left wing talking point hasbeen taken out of circulation now that Obama has given us deficits and debt that make anything Reagan or Bush did look like pennies by comparison.
Clearly, you are tremendously ignorant of history.

Well in point of fact Hoover was an interventionist and that caused a recession to became a depression that lasted until WW2 since FDR policies extended the depression.

he is a good lecture from an economist who has studied and written on how Hoover's policies caused the depression (about 1 hr audio) the basics are covered in the min 5-15 first 5 min are smalltalk:

The Great Depression - Robert P. Murphy - Mises Media(Audio File)

BTW Obama's policies are failing miserably, and Krugman's spin is pathetic.

Well as they say, it will only get worse before it gets any better with the economy.
