    Dunno, it was with the article and I thought it was cute. I guess it's supposed to be that 'uncle sam is still the king' or something.

    Hey, btw PC, I asked you a question last night in one of the Iran threads, if you could give it an answer I'd appreciate it--I said "Hey PC, you're a smart guy, what do you know (or hear) about the more moderate faction in Iran, the opposition to the hard liners", something like that. Thanks.

    I don't know much more about it than you. Just that a vast majority of that country want change, but have been hijacked by radical religious thinking and "values"... Sorta like our own country.

    Every year there will be more millionaires than the year before. Also, every year the divide, or gap, will grow wider. Why? Mathematics. A guy with $100 will have more opportunity to grow that capital than a guy with $1 does. A guy with $1,000 will have more opportunity than that dude with $100. Keep adding zero's to those figures, and you'll continually increase growth ability. It's simple math. On top of the simple mathematics, a $1 million in 2000, isn't as valuable as it used to be.

    For there to be so many rich it means so many are poor and exploited. it's a sad day when parents have to give up there kids because they can't afford them. we see parents sell their kids off in other countries or marry them off at an early age.

    this is why I believe the world is heading to its breaking point.

    all fine and dandy until the poor don't have money to buy the goods of the rich or the poor no longer sell food and instead keep it for their own sustinence.

    Ask yourself why people are poor. Do you think the taxes we pay, and the overall size & cost of gubmit is a contributing factor? I'd say it's a large one.

    Right, cuz the rich got all their money from the poor. I think what's sad is people who can't afford kids having them.

    I'm talking poverty in terms of forced slave labor like America one had, Stalin used, Germany once used, China uses, and India in addition to many parts of the world. Why do you think everything gets outsourced out of America?(we not everything but most).

    elaborate on your taxes comment please.

    A three-year investigation by the AFL-CIO affiliated Solidarity Center found several leading U.S. retailers received shrimp from plants in Thailand and Bangladesh where workers as young as 8 are subject to sweatshop conditions.

    There are only so many resources in the world and ultimately that equates to wealth. But wealth is also a made up human concept.

    I've elaborated on my taxes comment 1,000 times in this forum, so I'll keep it short. Nothing comes without cost, and every action has a reaction. Therefore everytime you make things more expensive, the expensed will be forced to pass it along. Along those lines, the more government increases in size, scope, and reach, the more inefficient it becomes, and the more "revenue" it needs to function. Governments are constantly talking about finding new sources of "revenue" to plug a defecit. None ever talk about shrinking is size and scope to create a surplus. When you add up all the fees, fines, penalties, taxes, etc that both people & business pay, you hurt the middle and lower classes most. If gubmit simply did what it was obligated to do, then we wouldn't need such things as income taxes, ciggarette taxes, gas taxes, etc. At the very least we could eliminate, or maybe lessen some of those penalties. Imagine shrinking the size of gubmit so that no citizen would pay a penny of their income on the first $100,000? Instead what we have is world police, welfare, money for spinich farmers, the Big Dig, AIDS in Africa, 1,000 different agencies that do the same things, and a long list of other items that aren't needed. Shrink the size and cost of gubmit, and watch how quickly the individual prospers.

    Someone with $100MM earning just 5% makes $5MM/yr...while we get 2.9% on our savings...oops, I almost forgot, Americans don't save anymore.

    We're NEGATIVE savers:D

    And you'd know that how?

    Don't forget, the little tour de frenchie guy was stripped of his victory for taking testosterone, and Terry Bradshaw just said he did--and he never looked like Arnold.

    I know a guy who uses insane amounts--literally insane amounts of various anabolic substances, and he doesn't even look like he works out.

    Hijack off.

    I know you're right...but when you come across one of those zit-backed dudes who're easily agitated, you know without even knowing.

    Even worse is women who use steroids...ever hear one talk? sounds like an old gravelly man.

    I knew a world champion arm-wrester (he was in stallone's "over the top" movie) who had arms bigger than his waist...or at least they looked it. He quit taking them and called himself an ex-junkie for using them...I guess they're pretty psychologically addictive.

    And that's how more millinaires are created:D

    R-Dubya,

    You wrote;

    Then I replied;

    I was AGREEING with your "widening gap" statement. You made some excellent and true comments.

    If you don't agree with my comment that Americans are negative savers, that's a fact, not an opinion. See for yourself.

    Why can't Americans save a dime?

    "Remember when credit was just for homes and cars? For the first time since the Great Depression, Americans savings rate has been negative for a year"

    http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Savinganddebt/Savemoney/P145775.asp

    Do a search on "Americans are negative savers" and you'll get a boatload of proof. It's just a matter of Americans spend more than they make as a whole...at least for the last couple of years

    Partially because they're stupid, short-sighted, and don't live within their means. I can't say how many times I've heard people comment they couldn't afford something but they "deserved it" so they put it on their credit card. That's part of the reason people don't save well in America.

    Exactly!! If you can buy it with REAL money, THEN you deserve it. If you can't, you don't deserve it...pretty simple.
