Interesting how this is playing out, the tables turn on the prosecutors.. the judge sounds P.O'd... wonder how many other convictions were botched by the Mukasey/Gonsalves Justice Department...

So Ted Stevens really was innocent all along!

    It all comes out eventually.

    Read the link.

The prosecutors acted unethically in terms of how to proceed with a court case. They with held evidence but it doesn't seem they had to. It's a matter of semantics that judges and the legal profession take seriously, but if you read the reasons why the judge is passed, I can't see how you walk away thinking Stevens is "innocent".

The Land Rover-for-Mustang deal his daughter got? The actual hours billed for by contractor were not as much as the actual hours he said he was there? Stevens still received gifts from the parties way in excess of the legal limits. He's a corrupt politician. Why do you defend him? You can say the prosecutors were corrupt, too, but that alone doesn't make him "innocent".

Stevens was not innocent at all, there was prosecutorial misconduct for the Attorney Generals under Mukasey/Gonsalves.. it happened on the watch of George BUSH...

There is pretty good evidence, however the prosecution team f.. ed up big time.

OK, OK, then we'll just say he's as guilty as Bill Clinton was on his impeachment.

    Happy now?!!

He is defended because the representatives of the party of family values really believe that George and his minions could do no wrong... even though this guy was guilty as sin.. for righties corrupt politicians and their party do not mix, even though they do. They also believe that two wrongs can make a right.. some say it is fogical thought, others contend that it is the right wing way.. see David "Diaper" Vitter, Newt "never got a bj from an intern I didn't like" Gingrich, Duke Cunningham.. on and on and on and on.

Speaking of contractors and politicians, anyone see the house Trav is building in Winthrop? But I digress...

Stevens is a corrupt MF'er, and he needed to go. I've been personally wondering if the prosecution purposely withheld evidence so that the case would end up, exactly in the situation it finds itself now. If the prosecuters get off, then we know it could have been that the fix was in from the start. It might seem a little conspiracy'ish, but it is all that implausible?

This situation may become more explosive than previously thought came across an article that claims that the Judge wants answers from Mukasey.. apparently there have been concerns for a while now.. this is very sharp wording..

Does not sound like Stevens was set up, looks as though the evidence was withheld during the case.. if you read the facts he probably was dirty as sin, but the Prosecution took shortcuts.. that is serious stuff.. lets see what Mukasey has to say... Why would the excutive branch want to set up a ploitical appointee and a supporter???
