BB has had Hannah, Russ Francis, Ron Burton, Gino obviously, Mike Haynes and others swing by practice and visit the team.

Sorry Grogs is getting the cold shoulder.

Read it and there isn't much to it. Not even really bashing. It's just Grogan saying, "I wanted to get some of the players to do some charity stuff with me. They gave me the cold shoulder. They're protective of their guys. That's just how it is."

What a non-story. Granted they are going to make this about how evil Belichick is.

    BTW, this line get me:

Really?!? What about Pepper Johnson? He was a former player for Belichick. Andre Tippett is on his front office staff. Also, he has given former players like Otis Smith tryouts during the preseason as coaches to either make their way on the team or find a job elsewhere through the experience. Why would Belichick have former players that he has no experience with like Grogan or other former Patriots before he came to New England be on his coaching staff? Also, odds are good that when Faulk retires, he will join the coaching staff in some capacity.

It's pretty well known that Grogan was a critic early on, when many were touting him as a resource Bill should be tapping... Most of these guys scoffed at the system so were worse than useless to Bill from that perspective. They're dinosaurs from a present day football perspective when so much of success is cerebral and system and scheme driven. Those who have come to embrace or at least appreciate the philosophical difference seem to do OK here. Grogan not so much. Be honest, what the hell is he going to tell Tom Brady that would benefit anyone?

Wasn't the quote just that BB wasn't letting his guys do charity gigs w/Grogan, out of protectiveness? Or did it go deeper into this "who got a job w/the latter-day Pats" territory?

Seriously, how much insight can Grogan or any former QB give Tom Brady. I love Grogan, but Grogan could have used a mentor like Tom Brady when he was playing not Brady needing Grogan.

I am not that mad about Grogan. I am sure his quotes were probably taken out of context. For all we know, Grogan could have been praising Belichick for shielding his players from the outside world and keeping them focused.

The few times I've heard Grogan talk about BB it was nominal praise. Anyone who followed the Pats in the early 80s will always have a soft spot for Grogan because of the way he played the game and the severe beatings he took as a result of it. Anything he says and is quoted by the douchebag media of NY has to be taken with a grain of salt.

All due respect to Grogs but the only quarterbacks I want near Brady are Montana and Bradshaw.

Bradshaw?!? Yes, I know he has 4 rings, but his answer is simple "Have one of the best defenses in league history backing you up". Since this defense isn't turning into the second coming of the Steel Curtain defense, I don't think Bradshaw has much to offer.

Nice. I think I'll head down to Steve's shop and buy a few things on my way to the game today.

The 3rd and 4th ones had a lot to do with Bradshaw. 35-31 isnt winning because of your D

Need to look at Bradshaw's playoff performances once they opened up the passing rules. Might help you understand where I am coming from.

In his last 6 "dynasty" playoff games, the Steeler offense averaged 32 ppg and his QB rating of 101.4.

I agree Bradshaw should not be included in the GOAT conversation, but MUST be included in the conversation of greatest playoff QBs.

I think this was more or less the topic of conversation before that article got completely twisted:

Otherwise that article got completely taken out of context. I think he was pointing out that Belichick keeps everyone away from his players, and the writer decided to make more out of it than it really was. There was no bashing - it was a pretty harmless article. Some of his answers obviously sounded like he was asked, "Do you think you or any of the former Patriots players can help any of these younger guys? (probably regarding advice for what it's like playing in the postseason vs. the regular season)" - so I think it's worth pointing that out before everyone hops on the bandwagon of bashing him. Especially considering we have a feature with him each week.

Growing up in foxboro and having Grogan's kids go to school with my brother, I can tell you... I've seen him many times and he really comes across as an arrogant prick. So I'm not suprised.

Having dealt with him on a personal level, he's very dry and hard to read, so that may be the reason you feel that way.
