Naturally, Belichick and his players have focused their critical eyes on tapes of Saturday night's game, searching for anything that went wrong. Brady the perfectionist lamented over two first-half drives that ended in 23-yard field goals by rookie Stephen Gostkowski; wasted touchdown-scoring opportunities that could have made the final score 49-0.

"We have to do better in the red zone," said Brady, who gave way to backup Matt Cassel with 5:03 left in the third quarter after the score reached 27-0.

"Once we take a look at the film, it may not be as good as we think it is," said linebacker Rosevelt Colvin about the shutout performance of the defense.

Despite the lopsided result, Belichick said the Redskins gave the Patriots something to work on.

"New looks from Washington make this film good to teach off of," he said.

So that's what that 41-point win meant to Belichick — a chance for players to learn rather than a cause for celebration.

"We're still working for consistency," he said.
