Patriots camp countdown: With Brady back, things are looking super by The Sporting News

Nothing particularly ground breaking, other than Tomase being unable to convince his co-writers to put a negative spin on the Pats chances this year.

I doubt the lying tub of blubber got any closer to the Pats training camp than the Foxboro Dunkin Donuts while the other two writers did the story.

Yeah, it's almost as if the other two took Tomase's input, threw it in the trash, and wrote the column themselves. The only Tomase fingerprints I can see are in the two words, "Evil Genius".

Woo that is a relief and a half. For a second I thought it read "With Brady back, things are looking stupid". Phewww *wipes forehead*

Lots of NE love in this stage of the preseason. Let's hope they deliver.

Here are the other team I feel are capable of putting up a legit run (knowing all too well that things change quickly in the NFL) :

*Indy (some are down on them, but Manning makes them dangerous)
*SD (if things return to normal after crappy beginning of 08)

Why is Tyrone McKenzie on the proposed depth chart? Did those morons just scramble that article together? Tomase's input was probably the editing, or something that gave him some influence on how retarded the reader felt after wasting his time reading that article.

Tomase's cheeseburger secreted grease on the area where McKenzie's name is located on the depth chart and thus Tomase left him on there. :banned:
  11. I just hope BB goes from a passive style defense to more of an aggressive style defense. The Pats need to create turnovers. What they have done in the past 4 years hasn't worked. It's time to change it up. I want to see Adalius Thomas bull rushing QB's majority of the time. I want to see someone other than Thomas be able to get after the QB. Last year, QB's were able to eat lunch before they threw the football. Now that the Pats have more physical corners in the lineup, I expect more man to man and a ton of blitzing. If their defense can do that, Pats will win the super bowl. But if they keep doing that bend, don't break s***, it will hurt their chances.

You know, now that I think about it... the Patriots probably ARE serious Super Bowl contenders!

Thanks for the analysis Sporting News!

    16-0 "hasn't worked"? 49-15 "hasn't worked"?

Pittsburgh has 41 wins in that time frame. Indianapolis has 51 wins in that time frame. Perhaps you might try being a bit more realistic.

That "style of defense" won us three Super Bowls.

Interesting how he has Wilhite and Springs as starting CB's and Crabel over Woods

I think Woods/Crabel get to battle it out in preseason ( as do the corners) so be interesting who lines up where vs Buffalo

You read it wrong. They have Woods and AD starting at OLB. TBC is backing up Woods while Crable is backing up AD.
Also they have Springs and Bodden starting at CB. Wilhite is backing up Springs.

Except for McKenzie backing up Mayo and Freddy T starting at RB it seems like a pretty good depth chart to me.

I rather liked the game plan in 2007 where our offense pounded the other team, put 40 points on the scoreborad before the 4th quarter, never having the need gamble to create turnovers though getting our fair share watching as a desperate team took to the air in a vain attempt to catch up.

That always seemed like a good overall gameplan to me.

I could handle that again rather than an "agressive" risk taking defense
  19. Who cares about wins? I'm talking about super bowl wins since '04 and the Pats have zero. Time to change it up. I'm tired of seeing the Pats trying to trick QB's into throwing INT's instead of making them throw INT's.

I said the last four seasons.

Those are great points, but do you think the Pats will duplicate their offense in '09? I guess I'm the type of person that likes to put my foot on a person's throat when their down. Unless the Pats are up by 40, I'm not taking my foot off of the pedal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying blitz the house on every play. I'm saying that I want to see the Pats go to more of a man to man style with more blitzing and some zone. The Pats defense is the kind of defense that just waits for the opposition to make a mistake.

You must have somehow forgotten the missed INT opportunities in the Super Bowl against the Giants.
