So, Spikes gets Willie's old number, and Gronk gets Coates' old number.

I like Spikes a lot...two thoughts came to my mind when I heard the news: do I resent him because he's the newest Pat to don my idol's old number, or do I embrace him because he's worthy of donning my idol's old number and maybe keeping a legacy of 55 going here (like it was at usc)
I'm actually going with the latter. Unlike when Seau took it back, I'm ready this time around. I've had a few years to accept the fact that Willie is gone and (most likely) never coming back. AND, I think the mean-ness of the way Spikes play makes him worthy of wearing the number I've always adored (side note: I wear number 55 in my rec bball league after Willie).

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

yeah...uh, I'd say that's a pretty safe bet....

Big Shoes to fill on that number.

Anyone know about Price/Hernandez's numbers? It's strange that we got the punter before them.

Re: Spikes-55 (does this mean I HAVE to be a fan?)

Good, I was hoping he didn't take #51 so my Mayo Jersey wasn't out of date already :p now to find out what Hernandez gets because I think it will be highly unlikely he will get his college number (#81).

I wouldn't say that, all he has to do is wait a year.

Re: Spikes-55 (does this mean I HAVE to be a fan?)

Opposing teams are going to have to stay away from the Spiked Mayo.

I think, in the end, we're going to say this kid did the number proud.

Re: Spikes-55 (does this mean I HAVE to be a fan?)

I just can't believe how the Patriots are giving up Reche Caldwell's number to a rookie tight end. Talk about disrespect, it's no wonder noone wants to play here.

Dont like McCourty at 32...

Really isn't a big deal what number they're wearing bro.

Hopefully this is a joke

I certainly hope your take on that post was a joke.

Why the hell would we not allow his # to be used? Should we hold out on Jabar Gaffney's # too?

I guess that would be the right thing to do

You've obviously never watched the movie: "The Fan"

But seriously, a lot of players really do care deeply about this stuff.

Hilarious!

And, yes I do too!

You best be trollin'.

I like Gronkowski's number, I'm okay with Spikes's number, and I don't really like 32 for McCourty. However, what numbers were really open in the 20s? Not many. I think 32 was the best available.

Junior Seau isn't walking through that door either.
