Reiss brought up the possibility in his mailbag: with David Thomas out for the year and Benjamin Watson hurting, how about trying Washington at the H-back position? He blocks well downfield and would be tough to cover coming out of the backfield. much more viable receiving threat than Evans or Eckel.

I'll be interested to see how BB and Josh handle this one.

I'm not sure how realistic it is, but I'd LOVE to see KW more involved in the offense. If we can see O'Callaghan more as a blocking TE, and put KW in as the TE/H-back, that would be fun to watch and a decent solution.

It's especially disappointing about Dave Thomas, in light of Watson's injury.

A better receiver, yes, but KW's a little tall and light for the backfield, IMHO.

Not to sure if it's entirely feasible for Washington to be playing H-Back/TE in any formation with the exception of maybe taking Watson's place in any of the formations that have the TE split out.

wouldn't that be very predictable on play calls?

I think we'll see more and more of Rivers.

    My thoughts, exactly.
Though, Metalbleachers, that would be ideal and fun to watch.

This is a good idea if the Pats are trying to get Washington killed.

I do this in Madden when I change from a spread 5 WR formation to an I formation with Washington as the up back and Stallworth as the HB. Drives people nuts.

So because I do this in Madden, I definately think it is a feasible option for the real world.

Sure, if think that Kellen Winslow could be a pretty good TE. :p

Maybe, but Wash is 6-3, 215. He's not Bam Childress.

I got thinking about this after re-watching the Pats/Jets game (I'd stopped watching baseball at that point :(). On their first TD, they snuck Coles into the backfield and he burned Colvin on an out and up route. So I guess when I say TE/H-B, I mean more of a WR with H-B route-running duties.

True enough. I think I'm just trying to get him a few more reps on O, and it seems that, with Thomas out for the year, Watson questionable and Morris out for the forseeable future, he could find an expanded WR role.

He's definitely not a blocking-type H-back. sorry if I came across as promoting that.

He's a decent at blocking for a WR. Put him in the TE position and he will just get manhandled by those LBs he's giving up 50 lbs to.

Is this the flip side of last year's "Watson should be a WR" threads?

Big WRs are not TEs and athletic TEs are not WRs.

Dont be sorry. If he was a bit bigger it would be a good idea. Maybe if he was 230 ish. He could kick Vilmas ass at that weight:snob:
