That's the word out of Miami. If Dorsey checks out and everything seems alright with his leg, they will take him with the 1st overall pick.

The thing is, one team has already said Dorsey checked out, but yet another team is saying he didn't...

Doesn't make sense. Unless they want to use him at end.

He doesn't seem like the prototypical NT in the 3-4

Is there a link, or is this your own source?

If Dorsey goes at #1 this is big, because most projections had him falling out of the top 6. This will push one more elite player down to the Pats pick at #7. How reliable are these sources?

Rob Rang from Sports Xchange is the source. He said that's what he's hearing out of Miami. It was a verbal discussion, and I don't know if he has this info on their site, so I have no link to give.

I didn't have any link when I said Seau was in town to take his physical in 2007 either...

Pardon my ignorance, but has Miami actually said they're moving to a 3-4 base or are we just assuming?

I wasn't doubting you. It's only natural that people wonder where information like that came from.

As is usual, we don't know anything. Miami, Atlanta, Cincinatti and St. Louis are all mum on the subject heading into the draft, but all have been speculated on.

Still I think Dorsey could make an effective 3-4 end, no?

Yea, we don't actually know if they're moving to a 3-4 or not. Parcells has employed both schemes, and he could use more of a one gap scheme, even if he switched over to a 3-4.

FWW: Rang said the Dolphins really like Dorsey's power and explosion up field.

What makes people think that Miami is going to stick with the 3-4? I don't think they are since they let Traylor go. And, as people have said, Dorsey doesn't seem like a NT.

I think that Sporano is going to surprise everyone and switch back to the 4-3.

He's not an end though, in either the 3-4 or the 4-3. If anything he is closer to a 3-4 NT (same height as Vince, about 20 pounds lighter), but with the Fish signing Jason Ferguson and Duane Starks, you'd think that they have their DT/NT position covered for next year, no matter the defensive scheme.

3-4 ends tend to be tall guys like Seymour, Warren, Olshansky, or smaller guys with a real motor like Green, Castillo etc

I'm not saying he couldn't lose a few pounds and make a decent end, but he's not the kind of guy I'd be drafting to be a 3-4 DE.

Size aside, his skill set seems to be closer to Seymour, than any two-gap NT. If he's as quick as Green or Castillo, which he is IMO, then the fact that he's twenty pounds heavier is gravy. Parcells says that it's rare you find a 300 pound man who can move like a Dorsey - when you do, you get him.

On another note, file the Traylor departure under a propos of nothing. He's about 38 years old.

Its not been confirmed that they are, but Parcells did sign Jason Ferguson who is a pretty good NT over from Dallas. If I remember correctly Parcells coached him during his stay in Dallas also.

Hes a beast kinda reminds me of a young Warren Sapp, high energy disruptive force in the middle. If he somehow were available with the number 7 pick and Gholston were gone id be thrilled with Dorsey.

The word "end" and Dorsey, or "3-4" and Dorsey do not belong in the same paragraph. He's a Warren Sapp in his prime esque difference maker at tackle in a 4-3 scheme, he will be a beast in this league and Miami would be idiotic not to take him first overall.

    I hope he can throw.
Parcells has no choice but to take Ryan. Dorsey #1 is baloney.

Was Rang part of a draft chat, radio, etc.?
