    Hi all,

Something interesting happened to me today and I wanted to share it with everyone. First, I must give you some background info. I live in Gainesville at the moment because I attended the University of Florida (go Gators!). As such, I've seen and interacted with many of the players (past and present) and their friends and families. I currently work as a loan officer and one of my customers is very close to Gerard Warren, a UF alum. For months he's been talking about how Warren was promising to fly him to Foxboro for the playoffs if they made it. This guy came in a few weeks ago saying that he would be going to all of their playoff games and the SB (if they made it). Of course I was more than skeptical . . . TOO SKEPTICAL. I don't think I ever doubted whether or not he knows Warren. I think I doubted whether or not he was as close to Warren as he said.

Well, he removed all doubt today. He came in today and immediately started telling me about the playoff games. He told me about the atmosphere of both games and all that good stuff. He then pulled out his cell phone and started to show me pictures of him with the team after the Baltimore win. It was really him in pictures with Mayo and Ninko. I could see a few of the other guys (Arrington, Fletcher, and Love) in the background. Here's the VERY BEST PART! He looked me in my eyes and told me that the whole team got together to watch the NFCCG and THE WHOLE TEAM was rooting for the Giants to win. He told me point blank that the Patriots WANTED to face the Giants again! They did not want to play against the 49ers. He said that they celebrated the Ravens victory and, when the Giants won, they celebrated that as well.

That is absolutely amazing to me for some reason. I got goosebumps when he told me the story because this is a truly confident team that wants revenge. We've heard all the talk from the Giants and zilch from the Patriots. From the way BB has been acting to the way the guys talk during the interviews, there's just this quiet confidence brewing with the Patriots that I can't help but love. I'm more excited for this game now than I ever was before. What do you all think about that?

well, I have no reason to doubt you. bottom line is we have to come out and execute. they can talk, we can keep our mouth shut. none of it matters when the whistle blows. turnover battle, penalties and big plays will determine the winner. i really hope we win

Good story bro. It's funny how none of us fans wanted to play the Giants, but the players themselves did. Maybe they have more confidence in themselves than we do, which is important. Who cares what we think, as long as the players believe in themselves.

I love you. You made my night. Now, all I can hope for is that Brady also wants the Giants as bad as the rest of the guys. I am truly nervous about how he might play, especially if he gets rattled early.
But regardless…thanks for bringing a smile to my face with an awesome story.

I've no reason to doubt your story dude.... But we'll all had our share of "I know a guy, that knows a guy"..... ;)

That said..... It would not surprise me a bit. San Fran is a better team then NY. Statistically, the NYG are not nearly as formidable as some of the other NFC teams we could have faced. Sure, they won to get here, but they certainly are not nearly as fearful (statistically) as GB, NO or SF.

Also, there is the whole revenge factor, which I certainly think there is something more to that then people know.

I liked your story (literally... by clicking the button), But it has to be more about the matchup, and their familiarity with the Giants.
Because I don't think it can be for revenge.
All of the players you mentioned weren't with the team during the 2007 SB loss.

Thanks for sharing. The team will need to prove their confidence Sunday though. The whole 'be careful what you wish for' concept comes to mind

I've cooked up a couple theories on this.

    1) Tinfoil hat theory: I read recently -- sorry, can't recall where; Bedard, maybe? -- that, when passing, Eli makes a quick glance at the play's designed first read just prior to snapping the ball. (I'm skeptical to be sure; the Packers didn't notice this?) If the D is able to key on some pre-snap tell, the game will be over before it starts.

    2) Realistic theory: This is a deliberate adjustment by the coaching staff from SB 42, where it seemed the team was wound incredibly tight coming into the game. (Not all that unreasonable, given the circumstances.) BB is setting the tone with his press conferences.

After four consecutive Super Bowls decided by 3 points, my cardiovascular health and I are hoping for a final score along the lines of 97-3 Pats. :D

I believe that one of the Redskins DB's said they knew that... Deangelo Hall perhaps?

practically none of these guys were here in 2007, so I kind of doubt they want revenge for the superbowl loss, but it wouldn't surprise me if they want a rematch for the regular season beating.

Thank you for sharing that story. You just made my day. The Pats have been exuding a quiet confidence that I don't interpret as *overconfidence, and I hope this is why. ;)

You nailed it on the head! As long as the Patriots want this to happen means that they believe in themselves.

I don't understand this thought. What does SB42 have anything to do with the revenge factor? Last I checked, most of the guys on this team were on the team that got a loss handed to them at home in November. Watch that game again, and I understand both teams are quite a bit different now but it took an embarrassing last minute drive by Manning on this D for us to lose the game. We had over 4 turnovers that game and still almost won it. I could definately see this team foaming at the mouth to get another chance at Manning and the Giants. If my time line is off then I apologize.

I wouldn't call Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Logan Mankins, Matt Light, Vince Wilfork, Kevin Faulk, and Bill Belichick "practically none". Considering what the Giants snatched from the Pats that night is more than just a SB, it was a legacy that would never be matched. I know in all the interviews that none of these guys ever admit that it wasn't more than that, but I don't believe it. What red-blooded competitive athlete wouldn't want another shot at some form of retribution. Then you add in the fact that they beat you at home in the last minute, are talking trash, giving you no respect, and most of all they're from NY. I'll take Patsboy's word for it because even without his story I wouldn't doubt that the team wasn't pulling for the Giants in the SB. I sure as hell wasn't and they still give me a knot in my stomach, but it would be extra sweet to beat them in the SB only 4 years removed from that epic SB.

Plus they have the tape of that game to look at and see what went wrong other than the turnovers, theres that whole the its tought to beat a BB coached team twice in the same season.

Speak for yourself, I don't get what all the fuss is about, they're a friggin' 9-7 team outscored by their opponents this year. I'm not buying what everyone is selling. I'd rather see the Giants than NO, GB or SF easily.

And Rich Hill (who is fantastic) had this to add:
So if the Pats can figure out who that first read is from Eli's pre-snap tell, then they've got a 50/50 shot at predicting the second read, and the third read is almost always Cruz.

I hear that Gainesville is a pretty decent place. :) (Just kidding as I used to be the team photographer for the Gators football and basketball teams and KNOW Gville is great.)

It's funny because when the Giants vs. SF game was going I posted saying I wanted the Giants because the motivation would be HUGE. A couple posters lambasted me saying there was no way anyone could ever be "more" motivated than they'd already be for a Super Bowl game.

It seems the Patriots players disagree, lol.
