I'm astonished to learn this for the first time. The 7'6" basketball player from China who has just retired from the NBA, Yao Ming, is essentially a product of a eugenics program.

Chinese authorities kept getting Ming's 6'7" father and 6'3" mother together on dates, implying, We need your prospective tall child for the team.

It worked, obviously, in Yao Ming's case.

However, the Chinese, top-down (pun intended?) fixation on height has given them the tallest of teams--the average height is 6'9"--but not success.

I read somewhere the average NBA team averages 6'7". The Chinese state sports bureaucrats think they know what's best, like a socialist planner in the economy, but they don't.

Letting the team form together on its own, laissez faire style, is likely to field a more competitive team. Not to say China will ever be a powerhouse in the sport. They are pretty short over there. Am I allowed to mention that obvious difference?

"Short Chinese" might be some trouble over this one, the loons despise Reality, but maybe not, the Chinese don't seem to be on their "protected spieces list".............

You're allowed to mention anything you want.

However, do be aware that most of what you mention fails to attract the attention of those who hunger for knowledge or thirst for truth - rather it only serves to reaffirm their original assessment of your motives and your heart.

    Nam

    NAM=non-Asian minority

    Get conversant with it, folks.

Half Sigma: NAM = non-Asian minority
I first learned of useful acronym reading Steve Sailer's blog.

    Let the data speak.

Don't attack people for their motives which, anyway, can rarely be determined with accuracy or precision.

Your approach smacks of the ad hominem fallacy, showing you don't have anything more to say than I must have bad motives or a heart filled with hate to dredge up the mountains of facts--see the Star Parker thread for examples--that I have.

Essentially, I've won the argument. At least it seems so to me until people respond using data.

Why, because their average height is 6'9" instead of the NBA's 6'7"?

    Why is that likely?

All countries have youth sports programs, so the idea of a pure "laissez faire" approach is generally unheard of.

Nope. It's a cartel that actively discourages competition such as 20-someodd years ago with the USFL.

    Think big.

The NFL is a nation, not a company in this comparison.

State ... nothing personal but this thread sucks real bad ... it's horrible.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    We better be careful -
Obama might be matching up people who love to shop so their offspring will control future Congresses.

i think he once said he's a decent basketball player but he's a tad on the slow side. He better watch out playing golf ... that is a sport for men who wear tires around their midsection.

Actually, you're wrong. It's a specific tribe within Kenya that dominates those longer races, the Kalenjin.

You can read about it yourself; they're from the Great Rift Valley. Steve Sailer writes:
Kenyan Runners: Nature or Nurture by Steve Sailer for UPI; Kalenjin, the Running Tribe, steeplechase, altitude, genes, diet, training, Keino

    Is it nature or nurture?
The first white guy to run below 10.0 in the 100 meter dash occurred recently, a guy from France.

This thread doesn't suck at all. I think it's fascinating that Yao Ming is a product of state-sponsored eugenics.

I remember seeing a show on Discovery or somesuch a year or so ago where they were attributing the dominance of Kenyans in long-distance running to some unique features in the structure and size of their legs. I can't find any references to the particular show, but I did find this:
