Thats BS so now after 4 years they are all UFA. BullS***DaBruinz said:The maximum length of time a non-first rounder can be signed is 4 years.
Picks 1-16 of the 1st round can be signed for 6 years. Picks 17 - 32 can be signed for 5 years. All other picks are a maximum of 4 years.
That's why I asked, if they're UFAs after 4 years that really blows.SeanBruschi54 said:Thats BS so now after 4 years they are all UFA. BullS***
I'm Glad Gene Upshaw had to have that in the new agreement. Mother F'er.BelichickFan said:That's why I asked, if they're UFAs after 4 years that really blows.
The effect of this change was debated at length a couple of weeks ago mainly between myself, Miguel and smg93. In the end I think we all agreed that the practical effect of this change will likely be minimal. Read this thread and this post in particular:SeanBruschi54 said:I'm Glad Gene Upshaw had to have that in the new agreement. Mother F'er.
As far as I know that hasn't changed but Miguel or another CBA expert may correct me.PATSNUTme said:But if we sign some of those later round picks to only 2 years contracts, they are still RFA's until after their 4th year, right?
Rookie signing bonuses and salaries are slotted. You will not get pick 86 to take less bonus than pick 87 got.DaBruinz said:Guys, why are you upset? The easy way to circumvent this is to give every player outside the 1st round a 3 year deal that is incentive laden and cut the signing bonus money down.

Does anyone know, that under the new CBA, if players are still UFA's until after their 4th season?
Boooooo. But thanks for letting us know.Miguel said:Players become UFAs if at the end of their contract they have at least 4 accrued seasons.
