I think we should consider calling the 4th of July a "Summer Festival", or maybe call it "Fireworks Day", since calling it Independence Day might offend native indians, British people, or some Mexicans who think they were here first.

We need a voucher program ASAP. We need school choice. It has been the design of the Public Education establishment to monopolize education by crippling private schools and putting them out of business. Government monopolized anything is bad for society.

This country is over. [IMG] But hey, it was fun while it lasted. [IMG]

No more Christmas parties for everyone?

Police intervene in parental shouting match

    September 28, 2007
    BY ANGELA CAPUTO Staff writer
So long Halloween parade. Farewell Santa's gift shop.

The long-celebrated holiday traditions are facing elimination in some Oak Lawn schools this year after complaints the activities are offensive, particularly to Muslim students.

Final decisions on which of the festivities will be axed will fall to the principals at each of Ridgeland School District 122's five schools, Supt. Tom Smyth said.

Parents expect the announcement to add to the tension that's been building since school administrators agreed earlier this month to change the lunch menu to exclude items containing pork to accommodate Muslim students. News that Jell-O was struck from the menu caused such a stir that officials since have agreed to bring the popular dessert back.

That controversy appears to have been been dwarfed by the holiday debate, which became so acrimonious Wednesday that police were called to Columbus Manor to intervene in a shouting match among parents.

I got another school choice for you. Two schools (Texas, go figure, and one in Illinois) have banned hugging and holding hands. The principle in Texas commented "its kind of like if the camel sticks its head in the tent, the next thing you know is the camel will be inside the tent".

First tag, and now hugging & holding hands. What a Banana Republic. I thought banning Fluff was going to solve all the worlds problems. I guess not!

America's public schools have become a dangerous place for your childrens minds, they are being brainwashed with socialist left wing liberal bullsh!t.

Last year a lot of the towns in Maine completely ignored the schools they kept their children home and held big traditional Christmas party's in rented halls, the only kids that attended school that day were a couple of Muslims and a few kids whose parents were Loony Spaced Out Left Wingers.

The partys will probably be even bigger this year while in school the teachers and the loony's can have their own little bash America Bush hating get together, they can sit around reading the Koran together.

I get offended by the daily massacre of my beautiful language. I really wouldn't bother moving or changing Treacherous Bloody Colonials' Day. :D

Why do you call it left wing liberal bullsh!t? The school which banned hugging is in Keller, Texas. A very Republican town. When people talk about radicals, don't assume that they are Liberals.
I had worked in a school in East Texas, I knew a teacher from the Jr. High who went to work at the local penitentiary, because it was safer.

Well, the left does dominate public education. Look at the Teachers Union and it's political alignment. That doesn't mean that local decisions aren't leftist driven, or politically motivated. Stupid crap comes from all angles.

Like the next thread that.... :D

I assumed it was left wing liberals bullsh!t because it is bullsh!t like this that most liberals are mixed up in.

Most of the people that support letting Muslims pray in school won't even allow a Christian kid to say the word "God" outloud on school property and most of these people are flaming left wing liberals.

This is all backlash against traditional Christianity, which, truth be told, has brought this on itself by looking at the sky waiting for Jesus on the clouds, or at the arch-diocese for the latest edict borne of fallen human interpretation. God's Word is for everyone to have and keep forever, not to be misinterpreted or booked into a rigid set of rituals that only the "priesthood" is entitled to understand.

Are you sure you don't want her? We'll throw in a decent pub or two as a sweetener.

    Great. A doddering useless metric-system-defying, high-tea-having, platinum-spoon-born-with, scepter-diddling second-hand figurehead -- plus warm beer to boot! What's not to like? ;)

    Well, that's quite a temptation, but I'll pass. :D

Personally, I like Elizabeth for her dignity under such extremes as we have seen these past fifty years. She's a very nice queen, but I'm looking for something even better.

Don't be too depressed. It's always darkest just before the dawn. The know-nothings have had their way long enough. Change is coming. Buckle up.

Actually, I think what's happened to Bush -- and even to Bubba before him -- will leave whoever assumes the office next in a more humble and open-minded frame of mind. (It better, or they are going to be toast, too!)

It's clear the culture is changing in very big ways, and not only in America. All over the world there are major shifts in both external economic standards and internal philosophical -- or values-based -- standards. "Core values" has become a very hot topic among young adults all over the world, the educated internet babies evenly sprinkled throughout the nations.

We're going to see major sea-changes in the demand for the equalization of living standard, and for that, we need the equalization of values standard.

Foggy, I luv ya buddy, but how far are you from Chernbyl? I think you're too far from the US to see first hand how much values have declined in this country. I know your mean well, and I'd love to see values become important again, but sadly, they're not. Values come from good parenting, and too many kids are not growing up with parents.

Sometimes you got to look deep inside the forest to see the trees. I know it seems that the only values in America today are the ones that have dollar signs in front of them, but there are those who truly want to find a way out. Desire for goodness is the first step. As someone once said: where there is a will, there's a way. Especially if it is the will of Heaven.

    Hang in there. :D
