History shows Brady should be ready physically when he returns, but the mental part of his comeback could be tougher | New England Patriots | projo.com | The Providence Journal
That should give the Kaczur and Light "lovers" something to rant about.

Terrible example. That 25 sack number was just 3 more than the previous year and was 2 fewer than the 27 he'd had the season before that.

If you check the numbers for OL, the interior three of Mankins, Koppen, and Yates, had the substandard season, Light and Kaczur where at or below their "norm." Neal coming back about the same time Cassel's field vision came into focus changed things dramatically - Matt was a significant portion of the growing pains hisownself.

I noticed that number, though the Palmer and McNabb differentials were more significant, which leads to the next question on O-line make-up for the three teams during that portion of their comeback (Culpepper I discount and a "special" situation).

Well, the Mcnabb case has the Giants game which you really just throw away. A dozen sacks is clearly about more than the QB, especially since the team hadn't given up more than 3 sacks in any of the 3 games prior to that. That was the game where Winston Justice was filling in for William Thomas (injured) and got absolutely schooled by Umenyiora (6 sacks) because the Eagles didn't give the poor guy any help. That offensive line struggled with health for much of that season, and that game was the most egregious example.

I don't want to bash on SMY too much for the article because I understand that it's the silly season, but it really seems as if she just did a cursory read for a 'filler' story.

My last tour involved working for a "results oriented guy" who valued "production" quotas over substance...dunno if that's the case here, but you do have to put something in the paper.

You're absolutely correct sir. Football has tried to extend itself to become a 12 month/year event, but that's not really possible when the coaches keep a better lid on information than the CIA does. Partly as a result of that, and partly because there really is a long offseason with a few minor informational flurries rather than a 12 month cycle, there's been a whole lotta dross coming from the media this offseason. It's to be expected, but it doesn't mean that we have to like it.
