Situational Coaching for Ochocinco?

To clarify- the Bengals system is numbers (from the West Coast philosophy), and the Patriots are the modified Erhart-Perkins (names) and Bengals do not do sight (coverage) adjustments while New England practically does that every snap.

In short, Ocho is very used to a system where his job was done once he stepped out of the huddle. He knew where he was going to go.

But here, his job isn't done until after the snap and he reads the coverage and my bet is he's having the majority of his difficulty adjusting in the tube before he gets to the stem of his route.

Thanks for this translation! :)

Ochocinco is a good WR, but im not sure he's a gamechanger...IMO hes a more athletic Deion Branch which is why his skills are somewhat redundant unless branch goes down with an injury.

Unless you land a Moss 2007 type player, theres no point to change the system/the offense. You are supposed to sign/draft players that can fit into your system.

at this point, im ready to give Taylor Price a chance and see what the kid's got...he was able to get some good separation deep against the steelers...the kid could be really good but the signing of Ocho stunted his grown in this offense IMO...im ready to see him get more opportunities sunday

every other team out there has young speedy receivers that can beat their man..

BB is big into situational football.

I wonder if he should apply this philosophy with his coaching/playbook when it comes to Ochocinco. Obviously, the guy isn't working out, has been a non-factor in our games this year. Why not tweak the system for Ochocinco?

Chad is a great receiver, and BB is squandering his talent. Ask Chad what was so different in Cincinatti so that he was incredibly successful there, and figure out how they can adapt their system to bring out his talent.

Just throwing it out there...

Chad is a great receiver and BB is squandering his talent? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He sucks!!!!!!!!! Who are you? Chad's agent?

to excel in this offense, you need to have a good Football IQ more than physical talents...because it requires you to read the coverage, know what every other WR is doing and change your route accordangly..

Moss wasnt only effective here because he had freakish athletic ability, but he also had a great football IQ(belichick said Moss was one of the smartest players he had coached)

its the reason why Deion Branch who really is an average WR can be so effective here...he understands where to be at the right time

Ocho may have athletic abilities, but it seems(unfortunately) that he doesnt have the football IQ to put everything together and be successful in the offense. its a shame, because I really think he could help us if he did put it together..he is a talented WR...but im not sure he really can.

im ready to give Taylor Price a shot in this offense, and seems the coaches are as well
