Take a moment Pats fans and rejoice in how good we have it here in good old Foxboro.

You could be following this sorry franchise:

    http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5946

Read about what a/hold Joey P. did in Vegas and then scroll down to the other malcontents (Henry, Thurman) and poor unfortunates (David Pollack).

Or you could be following the the theater of the absurd in Houston:

    http://blogs.chron.com/nfl/2007/03/behind_the_scenes_with_the_tex.html

Imagine the best you can say about Carr is that he "left with dignity".

Or maybe Seattle would be more to your liking??

Stevens, Kearney - NO #1 and overpaid for one Deion Branch who's heart remains in Boston (and where his body should have stayed).

There are many more sorry ass teams out there - Hello Oakland, Detroit, Cleveland (poor Romeo) and Washington to name a few more.

Just count your blessing fans of New England...we have it all going on right here and right now.

Thankfully, the Patriots are different. Here we have Massachusetts bleeding away population unlike the other states in the union. What happens? Tom Brady steps into the breach and works long and hard to counter the population drain!

Yeah, but we have Ben Watson who left "only" a 17.5% tip for Tom Casale's waitress/fiancee at a restaurant when he came back from putting himself in harms way by visiting and giving moral support to our troops in Iraq.

Most NE fans don't realize how good we have it because of the distinctly piranha NE media.

Hey, living outside the area and following the Pats for 30 odd years, I have to say I definitely appreciate what we have. I hope the ethos that's led us down this path even survives owner/coach/QB changes one day... I hope it's sunk into everybody in management to the point where we have a "winning tradition" the Patriots Way, and that the Patriots Way gets so ingrained it can even survive the departure of its architects.

I also hope we don't have to find out for a long, long time.

Its going to be a great year, but it still needs to be tranfered on to the field.. If the super bowl was given to the team that sign the most FA, Washington would be a dynasty..

    Sean speaks the truth.

But I really, really look forward to this campaign. (The fact that it's still all on paper is bumming me out LOL)

The Skins sign a bunch of FA as th ONLY method to build a team. They also end up cutting a bunch of previously signed FA to find $$ to pay for the new crop. Consequently the Skins have no depth, or a complete team; they certainly have no, or very little continuity either. Stars and Scrubs don't win...

Washington is where average FA players that played for winning teams leverage their winning status and cash in. They might deliver similar stats, but they don't deliver the wins.

    Definitely true.
I took the op more as a tribute to the franchise's standards, philosophies, and foresightedness rather than a declaration of a SB victory, but maybe I misread? Either way, bring on the season-I can't wait!! GO PATS:rocker:

Spent the morning waiting at the barber shop here in Raven's country. Yeah they're still around for the un non-greenie types that only want to spend $12 for a haircut.

Anyway, to the point. This weeks SI was on the table, and was it ever a topic of conversation amongst the Ravens fans. Big picture of AD in there to remind them what they had and what the Pats just did this off season. Several were trying to be company men saying AD was a system player that did well because of Ray Ray and without the surrounding talent of the best defense in football (The Ravens), AD would be another has been that left the nest to get his payday.

But most of the folks would have none of that. They were frustrated that the Ravens front office couldn't manage the cap better, and that they have lost so much talent this year. On top of that, they trade the one thing they have this year, draft picks for McAhee.

They can't understand how the Pats had so much cap space, signed all this talent, still have more cap space than the Ravens do and have 2 round 1 picks.

When I brought up the moves the Pats made with the 3 WRs, then the discussion moved to the Colts and Peyton. Consenus was that Brady IS the best player in the game. If Manning had an annual revolving door of receivers like Brady, Manning would be just another QB.

Believe it or not, it ain't sarcasm. It's actually true:

    http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=53158

Go down to post #15 in the thread - Patsfanken:

"FYI - Watson had a press conference that you can hear over at Patriots.com. Just click the audio section on the home page. Hearing him actually give his answers helps show the depth of the impact this trip had on him. He is clearly and thoughtful and intellegent young man.

BTW - for those of you who didn't hear this weeks PFW in progress. That pompous DB, Tom Cassale lambasted Watson for only leaving a slightly less than 20% tip to his fiance, even though he had to return part of the meal. What was worse, he intimated that in the future when he gets a chance to take a shot at Watson, he won't miss it.

Is it just me, or are there others out there who are fast becoming disenchanted with this loud mouthed, self absorbed, know it all, who aspires to be the next Ron Borges??"
    ______________________________

    So picture this:

    1) Ben Watson, in his free time, goes over to Iraq and spends a week in harms way visiting and raising the morale of the troops in mortal danger.

    2) Upon his return, he happens to leave a 17.5% tip (gasp!) for Tom Casale's waitress/fiancee.

    3) The great hero, Casale, then spends several minutes on the air complaining about what a tightwad Watson is - - on the same day as Watson's press conference answering the media's questions about his trip.

In his own bio, Casale says that he spent 15 years as a degenerate gambler before he went and graduated college as a "Billy Madison".

......but he can judge the character of a Ben Watson whenever he wants.

Seems to me Mr. Watson showed great RESTRAINT in tipping "only" 17.5% after getting lousy service by the esteemed (spoiled brat) Alison (with one L as Tom told us last year).

I know when I get lousy service, it is really hard for me to go less than 15%....I can only imagine what casale would do in that situation.

This guy has a real problem trying to justify his own existence in my opinion. I did not appreciate the hatchet job he tried to pull on the Rookie Chad Jackson, it was not warranted, he is a 21 year old kid that maybe should have known better - but it was a non incident after a couple of vets and Maroney calmed it down.
Why would he even think of attacking and trying to demean those of us in here that really are the die hard fan base he is trying to get to listen and read his work in the first place, by coming here under assumed named and making as ass of himself as well as talking smack on the air when we could not defend ourselves??

And now, this is the latest Tom Casale incident in trying to throw mud at a guy who is really a nice guy. Mr. Watson just gave of himself, went overseas, related a story that really made me think - so, Casale, instead of accentuating the good deed this guy did, ambushes him over a 17.5% tip after his service was horrible??

TOM CASALE - please explain yourself or at least, calm down and be a man. You seem to know football, why don't you try to actually talk about it and stop trying to get people to think you are important. You really are ruining PFW's good reputation with crap like this.

We know Ron Borges and you sir cannot hold a candle to Ron (at least Ron actually does know what he is talking about, as long as it does NOT involve New England).
