good stuff... but why can't you ever link?
He doesn't want to.
I usually link if it from a news source. Good info. We really need to get a decent rifle with a larger caliber bullet for our troops use some composites to keep the weight down.
This email has been out for a while.
The M-16 got a thumbs down in Afghanistan too. It's small round shot at such a very high velocity was not killing on hit. Enemy fighters weren't falling when shot. The thing with an M-16 though it that it is highly accurate, very light, and with the smaller round, troops are able to carry a lot more ammo. With the strat of our infantry keying on fire superiority, the amount of ammo you carry is critical. Also, the M-16 is a killer. Where taliban don't instantly die, they don't recover either. The smaller round at high speed makes a small entry wound, but once it hits its target, it wiggles around inside the body, causing massive internal bleeding, that is very difficult to stop. Basically, if you get hit by an M-16 in the field, you might immidiately survive, but you won't for very long thereafter.
BTW, the AK is universally considered the best small arm of all-time.
