I guess this isn't overtly political but it has some political ramifications so I'm posting it here. F*cking morons.

"The two boys tore down the hall of Patton Middle School after lunch, swatting the bottoms of girls as they ran . . . Now, Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison, both 13, face the prospect of 10 years in juvenile detention and a lifetime on the sex offender registry"

Welcome to the world as liberals would run it. Murder and rape are ok... 10 year olds patting a girl on the behind is a capital offense.

I think it's political because I think that the political correctness crowd is an arm of the ultra liberal left wing. At least in the last month thats how i've come to view them. Before I didn't realy think about where they came from, except they maybe the number ONE group that has gotten under my skin, and driven mef@#$@ crazy with their B.S over the last twenty years. If this had happened when I was that age they would have gotten detention, maybe a letter to their parents. This whole PC correctness is Hippie Revenge,i.e all the ole hippies who lived in delusion about a perfect world where everything is peace, sunshine and everyone holding hands.Have tried to create that world through political correctness. I also have to mention lawyers.can't run in the playground someone might fall and the school will get sued. Wouldn't doubt if lawyers get involved in the above case ...sexual harrasment.

In a nation of 250 million, you're bound to find the occasional anomaly, where justice takes wrong turns. As any intelligent reader can tell, it's not clearly a liberal or conservative issue. The fact is that a Vice Principal and a police officer were involved in questionning the boys, and the DA decided to bring charges. No telling if that group is made up of tough by-the-book conservatives, prudish religious types, or feminist liberals. At any rate, it is a result of the zero tolerance mentality promulgated by conservatives.

I don't think they're extremists. I think they lack common sense.

For instance, in the above case, maybe the Vice Principal was thinking, "If I fail to take this seriously, the girls' parents might sue the school system"; the police officer was thinking, "They broke the law; I'll let the DA sort it out"; and the DA was thinking, "There are laws on the books for a reason, and it's my job to prosecute those laws." All of that is reasonable, but as I've said before since the right-wing takeover, there's been less trust in the common sense of our civil servants and more of an expectation to play things by the book, for fear we'll let a criminal out with too light a sentence.

Patters who in your opinion then are the P.C. police made up of?And I relize that the zero tolerance people anal retentive. And then there are the lawyers, or people who like to use lawyers. I had to work 11-7 so I'm not sure anymore whos, who.Especialy after some Pisano whine. So please excuse the lack of clear defanition, and the slight inchoherance of my post. At least it sounds incoherant to me. I keep thinking of more to add. All I know is some how society has changed drasticaly in the last twenty years. In alot of ways its more stringent. It may have to do with the fact that there are just more people around to get offended. Gee where did everybody go.

Unlike the paternety case you commented on, which was a political issue? It's only apolitical when your politics are questioned.

There is a Female Liberal Kook Judge who turned an Immigrant Alien loose the other day who RAPED a little Seven year old girl because this piece of garbage couldn't speak English, the court couldn't find anybody that spoke the Animals language, she couldn't understand what this dog was talking about so she set him free, Jesus Jumping H Christ, why didn't this looney liberal bastard just lock him up until they found somebody who could speak his sh!tty language, SHE SET HIM FREE BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT.

SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE F-CKING LOONEY LIBERAL JUDGES AND POLITICIANS WHO HAVE INFESTED OUR COUNTRY AND GOVERNMENT.

(I'm not sure if THIS ANIMAL was legal or not, he's a minority so that gave the liberal judge some politically correct slobbering support from the scrwballs)

Zero tolerance is an inherently fascist concept. I removes the judgement of individuals and centralizes authority under a single set of unbendable rules. Fascism is traditionally attributed to the right side of the political scale, but American liberals have been known to use fascist tactics as well. It may sound like a contradiction, but it happens. The point is, it's wrong, and is part of the fear culture we now live in...fear of making a mistake...fear of attorneys.

There have always been people who are too PC. We see here how offended RW is when someone uses the greeting Happy Holidays rather than Merry Christmas. On the other hand, when RW ran a thread with "offensive" jokes, some of the liberals were offended (including me at first). (Sorry, RW, but those are the examples that came to mind.)

What's PC and what's not is a judgment call. Neither side gets it 100% right, but I think most individuals do. I also think our society goes through periods where one group or another is, for good reason, very sensitive. Whether we're talking about feminists, blacks, gays, evangelicals, "rednecks," or others, each of those groups have been offended at times by how they were portrayed by the media and society at large. Their reaction causes us to step back and re-evaluate. In the end, we temper our remarks, but it doesn't mean that no one is still offended. It just means that those who are offended are labeled PC to try to marginalize them.

You'd have to have less wine to be incoherent, I'm afraid. Anyway, I think people are offended at different things now. In the past, using the word "butt" or "*****" on tv was highly offensive; many of today's jokes would have been seen as pornographic or subversive; and a gay, black, or even woman making a pass to someone opposite would have been regarded as criminal.

I said, "it's not clearly a liberal or conservative issue." I did not call it apolitical. In fact, there aren't many issues that don't have a political component, and this one clearly involves a spectrum of political views.
