Turns out Michael Moore's beloved masturbatory fascination with Briton's centralized health care system is well................ SICKO

Gee, I wonder if my HMO is pimping for the Jihad too.

Yup, might as well blame the entire UK health industry because some terrorists enrolled. Clearly accepting terrorists is part of their stated mission, unlike good ol' American HMO's.

I guess the US flight-school industry is in similar shambles.

Obviously the terrorism thing has nothing to do with their health care system. That doesn't mean I want to be stuck with their sucky system, though :D

I would be more concerned by the average 18 week wait to see a specialist.

Pretty Boy Edwards (the jerk who wants to president) said a couple of weeks ago "the war on terror is just a bumper sticker war", hair comb Johnnie should tell that to the British.

England should recruit Edwards, he knows just how to destroy Doctors, he bankrupts them.

Less wait to get primary care, greater wait to see a specialist. All things considered, all health care systems everywhere suck, it's a world problem.

He's right. The terror's real, but the "war" thing's just a figure of speech.

Why do so many Canadians come to the US for service?

Because they're able to get certain procedures done much quicker here. Why do so many Americans buy drugs from Canada? Each system has its strength and weaknesses.

It's a good thing I left England at 12, I had a bad (permanent) tooth and they were about to just remove it; problem solved - except for me.

Came here, one root canal and 28 years later - no problem.

You'll say I could have had a root canal done privately over there ? I guess so but then I'd be paying for the socialized crappy system and to have a root canal.

I'm not too privy on what the different systems accross the globe are like specifically. I know that our care is deemed the one of the best, although the cost set up, or coverage, is one of the worst. In Italy they have government run care, and it is abysmal. People literally die when they go to the hospital, and anyone with a dime pays for private care which isn't all that much better, but does tend to keep you alive. MY aunt who lived here for 20+ years, and then moved back, was a diabetic who was basically killed by the Italian hospital system. My family here, all Italian born, and the half there, all agree that it is terrible.

As for Brittain, my brother, who has MS, was at the docs last month for his MRI, and he was telling me how there was a Britt doc sitting in on his visit. The doc couldn't believe that my brother got an MRI every 6 months. He said that there was no way that would ever happen in Brittain. That they'd have done one every two years, and maybe, one a year. These are obviously small snippets, and nothing more than a personal angle, but I figured I share them. We need reforms of some kind in this country, cuz the costs right now are ridiculous.

That's because we're stupid and have bad agreements on what to charge them for OUR drugs. The overseas drug buying is a shell game because we let them buy them too cheap in the first place.

The problem with our system is that INSURANCE companies are treating the health of americans as a way to make money. They reward employees that deny care with promotions and bonuses.

say what you will about healthcare around the world. There is no better care than in the United States. However, denial of care by insurance carriers is the problem. Healthcare companies should be non profit.

Nixon and Kaiser Permenente fukced our tax paying and hard working citizens.

I've never had a problem with insurance. That includes me, a wife, two kids, two births, a kid with surgery on his spine at 3 months, a mother with major cancer surgery, everyone has his list, everything's always been covered to my satisfaction. I have poor coverage for routine stuff but the big stuff is what matters, catastrophic things.

Personally I think too much is covered, if people had to pay more than a co-pay to run to the emergency room because they have a cold maybe they wouldn't clog up the ERs.

This didn't start with Cheney - but aside from playing the blame game, we should start by charging the socialized health care countries more for importing our drugs.

The insurance company puts the stockholder and profit before the consumer here. They run a buisness, and that is flat wrong in my book. They should be in the buisness of making sick people better.

BF, have you seen the movie? Have you seen the testimony of some former insurance company employees explain how they 'do buisness'?

No I haven't seen it and I'm not going to. I don't care if "it's a business" - all I care about is the end result and from where I sit, the end result is fine. Sure, my personal situation is a tiny sample size but it crosses many parts of health care and I see no reason to complain with anything. Again, I pay a lot of my small ticket items out of pocket but I'm OK with that, I think that's how it should be.

If this is gunna get into an import/export tax thing....you've found a friend. Our policies on this are truly messed the flunk UP....

If you are gunna deny that Dick Cheney and the Healtcare and drug companies wrote the laws, you've got a spirited debate about to happen.

Well....Insurance companies allow people to die, its better for profit. I know you are not cool with that.
