Wes needs 4 catches to pass Troy Brown, in less than half as many games.

You've gotta love his attitude too, in Jackie MacMullan's excellent-as-always column, where he talks about shaking off the disappointment of the drop and focusing on team success and hard work.

Every gritty undersized shifty receiver is supposed to be "another Wes Welker" but there is ONLY ONE WES WELKER. It will be a sad day if we ever again see him wearing a different uniform.

Edelman will do it in half the amount of games it took Welker. :D

I recall some talk of this record being close at the end of last season but this certainly has been a fairly quiet milestone approaching.

Wes is the man and I think it speaks volumes to how truly good of a player he is that he is doing this in about half the time as Troy.

Wes needs a ring and we need to get it for him. Hopefully he can have an MVP Super Bowl because he deserves to be up there with the greats from the Dynasty and he certainly doesnt deserve the infamy that last years moment could leave.

    Thanks... I edited my post.

I hope the man is beastly this year and then gets his payday, from us.

Wes is just one of those players that has heart. I hope this isn't his last year, but if it is I would love to see him get a ring and atone for that dropped ball in the SB. He plays like a champion and deserves to be one.

I've kept a track of it for quite some time now. I hoped he had a shot at making it last year even though it required a ridiculous season which he turned out to have.

4 seasons of 110+ receptions in his 5 years in NE...that is just insane production.

You wonder if he could reach the career 1000 reception mark if he could stay in NE - only 350 to go

    GOAT slot guy.

I wonder if he thinks about that play everyday. As a fan, I have thought about SB XLVI plenty since February and the sting doesn't go away until week 1 of the following season. Even then, it probably won't go away unless they claim the Lombardi in NO next year.

On topic, he should get this milestone before halftime on Sunday. Thanks for the effort, Wes!

My guess about Welker is although he is the ultimate team guy, he isn't the vocal leader that Brady or Mankins are. He seems a little more soft spoken and reserved and lets his play on the field lead while Brady and Mankins are more fiery vocal leaders. That is probably why he has never been voted as a captain.

BTW, congrats in advance Wes on the record.

That and the WR position in general is not really one that is as team orientated they more then other players on the field are on their on. Not much help can really be given or expected from them where as all other positions work more hand and hand together.

Wes? Really? I had the impression that he's the biggest joker on the team (at least now that Matt Light has retired!)

I meant in terms of leadership. He may be a joker, but I don't think he was like Light in that respect. Light was big and boisterious and I think Wes is more subtile like his Rex Ryan foot reference press conference.

I don't think Welker would even be half the Welker we see now on another team.

Brady and Welker go together like Peanut Butter & Jelly....take one away and you got a sandwich that is bland and doesn't taste right.

I agree that they are an extremely good mix,

but I also remember that a lot of people (here, on ESPN, on NFL Network, EVERYWHERE) were adamant that when Randy Moss left, it would surely be the end of the effectiveness of Wes Welker. They could not have been more wrong.

I think the danger of Welker zipping across the middle of the field catching everything thrown to him left teams sending their safeties up to help guard the middle while leaving Randy one on one at times to score or move the chains at will it seemed back then.....Welker was a huge reason why Moss was able to do what he did in 2007.

No Welker in 2007 and Moss doesn't have as great of a season as he did IMO.

Welker on another team with a quarterback not named Brady,Rodgers or Manning makes him an average at best WR.......some will disagree with this but I think the magic of Welker started the day he signed here and will end the day he leaves.

That would explain Bingo being a five time captain and of course Moss being one for two seasons...

... And with a better hair-cut. Wes, no offense, but you're gettin' kinda thin on top, bro.
