..and return their number 1 draft pick? That is the only way the humiliation of the NFL by the Pats is going to cease. Tomorrow the Pats will blow out their remaining "rival" and there will be nothing between them and a very embarrasing meeting with Goodell handing over the trophy to "cheater" BB at the SB except his submission. In the meantime, every score will be an embarrasment to the NFL . Isn't it better if Goodell admits his mistake now and appeases the monster for the good of the game?

No, he should not apologize. I like things just the way they are.

Belichick made a mistake. Then Goodell made a bigger mistake. I don't want him to apologize. I am enjoying this to much.

The Pats have three more teams to really humiliate; Steelers, Eagles and Jets. I think Ben Rothlesburger said something about the Pats knowing their signals as well as McNabb and Westbrook. In fact, remember when McNabb joked about getting his ring back? As far as the Jets are concerned, that will be a fun game to watch.

To answer the question, Goddell should give back the draft pick because every team cheats one way or another. That's the way life is and Goddell should get used to it. But Goddell won't give back their draft pick because that would cause a league uproar.

I HAVE thought that that could possibly happen, particularly in light of reports I heard promoted (didn't see the actual story), that Pacman Jones was getting his suspension reduced.

I would like to think that Goodell could respond something to the effect that after further review he has come to the conclusion that the situation got whipped into a frenzy by outside parties and the Pats were punished too harshly for a simple rules violation.

Considering the precedent set by the penalty given to the Broncos over their salary cap violations which actually affected the play on the field, the Pats penalty should be reduced to a #3 pick.

THAT, would be much more reasonable.

The severity of the penalty I think led people to believe that the infraction was much more severe than it was, just as if someone is given a life sentence, then the assumption is their crime was particularly egregious.

The Pat got caught jaywalking, not driving 90 MPH through a school zone as students were walking to school.

Wasn't Windshielburger it was "Cry Me a River" Hines Ward!!!

As far as the Jets are concerned, that will be a fun game to watch.

Until the end of the first quarter. After that it'll look like Joe Pesci getting wailed on with a baseball bat in Casino then rolled into a shallow grave and buried alive.

That game will be the proverbial car accident you can't help but rubberneck at. Mangini will make a nice DQ for some CFL team.

Missed it!! Oh well lets pound the Stoolers Too!

Should he??? Yes..considering how dumb a mistake it was absolutely!! On further review....BUT the league would be in an uproar and there would be more foodder for all the talking heads. Should he apologize in private?? NO....that is not accepted at all...he embarrassed the Patriots quite in public and left them out on a limb while every Patriot hater took shots at them left and right. I think Goodell SHOULD be embarrassed totally by it all...and a public embarrassment of Goodell might be just the thing...F*** HIM!!

I think Goodell would do himself a big favor by reinstating the Patriots #1 pick and instead taking a 3rd or 4th. The result of this could very well be a nervous breakdown by Polian. shaken and humbled Polian would go away leaving Goodell to run he league in peace.:D

That is exactly my point. He overreacted in an attempt to prove that the new sherrif in town would be equally tough with everyone whether they deserved it or not. He has left the Pats with no option other than to kick the living sh*t out of all their opponents whether they feel any real animosity against them or not. The only way for Goodell to save the 07 season is to admit he made a mistake *now*.

Nahh....let teh Pats romp over everyone...in fact get teh pick back and STILL do it!! I have no sympathy for him at all...If he DID do that, I would think he might have grown a backbone and understood how dumb he was but...NOT HAPPENING!!

Yes, I think they should otherwise the Pats will blow out every team in the league and probably not lose again for the next 5 years or so.

How do my threads get erased and stupid idiocy like this doesn't?

Yeah, they'll give back the draft pick. Sure. As soon as hell freezes over. Jesus.

Goodel knew he screwed the pooch after he viewed the other tapes he demanded from NE and saw evidence of other teams taping also. Now he can only sit and watch the Pat's rape and pillage the rest of the NFL.

Probably you didn't hear the latest annoucement made in BSPN by Goodell !

He announced PATS as SB Champions for the next 5 years, so they will not play & hence don't need any pick!!!! The other 31 teams will play for the PLATE CHAMPIONSHIP for the next five years :D :D (LMAO)

p.s : what do you do when the home team fans troll their own board??? :D :D

Make no mistake about it ... Polian, Holmgren, The Jets owner, Smith from SD and other losers pushed the Commish into this radical decision. Add to that the possible criticism that he was taking it easy on *white* offenders and you have this ridiculous, unjust outcome. Which is worse? To make an unjust deccision or to fail to retract a decision once you know it is unjust. The Pats suffered and continue to suffer a punishment that far outstripts the crime. Where is Justice?

Of course..DO NOT forget Fisher and others that are on the CC..I agree they pushed him as well did an enitire mediaots who jumped on teh story and ran with it without undesrtanding. He will not retract it at all...It is funny that some who WERE suspeneded got 2 weeks to practice while the suspension was on..did this happen with Rodney?? Of course NOT!! Goodell will never EVER double back on what he did...NEVER!! No justice..

I disagree Sir. He made a grave mistake. why should he not correct it when he has the chance to still render *real* Justice?

How about taking the JETS pick and giving it to PATS? Obviously Jets pick is likely to be in the top 10 or even 5??? :D (LOL)
