Im a pretty big fan of the draft and the patriots, i take alot of time to research it and over the past 3 years ive researched other peoples mocks and last year i successfully nailed 10 players to teams in the first round! hopefully i cant do better this year.

obviously this is a big draft for the patriots, with such a good team currently and so many draft picks, this draft could mean a new dynasty for the patriots, as it stands, this is how i currently see this draft shaking out.

2011 Mock Draft

Round 1:

1. Carolina Panthers: Andrew Luck

Thanks to the panthers for being bad, and luckily for them they are so bad that they are able to draft Andrew luck first overall. they just drafted jimmy Clausen but he hasn't really shown them anything so far, there is a good chance that john fox isnt back next year and a new coach means a new quarterback.

Luck is universally agreed to be the best quarterback in the draft so even if the panthers decide not to draft him at #1, someone else will make a trade and will.

2. Detroit Lions: Patrick Peterson

Admit it, after you done were cheering for Deion Branch torch Alphonso Smith 3 or 4 different times on the same play, you thought to yourself "holy crap that guy is bad" well believe it or not, Alphonso Smith is probably the lions best cornerback, so yeah.

Picking here allows the lions to not only fix their greatest need, but pick up the supposed best Cornerback prospect in quite some time in Peterson.

3. Cincinnati Bengals: Da'Quan Bowers

The Bengals has fallen far since sweeping the afc north in 2009 and while their offense has certainly suffered with a bad year from Carson Palmer, their defense has fallen into one of the worst in the league because they cant rush the passer, this pick will alleviate that.

Bowers is a tremendous prospect who can play 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB, he would make a great addition to any team, even the patriots.

4. Buffalo Bills: Nick Fairley

Nick Fairley is a beast and the bills who had one of the best secondarys in 2009 have one of the worst in 2010, and it is all because of pressure. The bills offense has some level of respectability with Ryan Fitzpatrick and he has some chemistry with his receivers, C.J. Spiller will be a weapon sooner or later, which means picking someone to anchor their porous D-line makes the most sense here.

5. Arizona Cardinals: Ryan Mallet

The Cardinals have quite a paradox, they have one of the best Wide Receivers in the league in Larry Fitzgerald but no one to throw him the ball.

So the Cardinals have a choice, keep paying larry fitzgerald a whole lot of money and get someone who can throw him the ball or get rid of larry fitzgerald, bring in A.J Green, pay him alot of money and still have nobody who can throw the ball.

i mean how many quarterbacks have we seen this year who were touted as the quarterback of the future for the Cards only to be unable to find A wide receiver not named Larry Fitzgerald as Larry Fitzgerald was triple covered the whole game.

At the end of the day, Ryan Mallet.

6. Denver Broncos: Marcell Dareus

Poor Josh Mcdaniels, he wanted to run the broncos like Belichick runs the patriots so he got rid of the quarterback with the big ego (jay cutler) and the broncos fans have been calling for his head ever since.

The Problem (other than horrible drafting and personnel decisions) with the broncos is their defense and Dareus coming in and dumervil coming back would do alot to solidify the broncos terrible D-line.

7. San Francisco 49ers: Jake Locker
.
The 49ers still need a franchise quarterback and with good offensive weapons around him already in an easy division with what should be a good defense it should be simple for him to succeed....right?

if Mike Singletary isnt back this year that only strengthens this pick, no new coach is going to want to go into a season with the same quarterback who helped his previous coach get fired.

8. Dallas Cowboys: Prince Amukamura

The Cowboys rank worst one of the worst in the league against the pass, and Prince Amukamura is just under Peterson in skill and ballhawking.

9. Minnesota Vikings: Cam Newton

Cam newton has looked awfully impressive in college and with Adrian Peterson and Sidney Rce (assuming they resign him) Cam Newton would look pretty good in a vikings uniform.

however if another QB is available here they may look at them a little harder.

10. Cleveland Browns: A.J Green

I know what your thinking, how does A.J Green get selected all the way down here? well i dont think he lasts this long, i think someone trades up to get him, but the browns are the best fit for him, they have a young quarterback who looks pretty good, they have a beastly runningback who needs 9 in the box to stop, and they have a ferocious defense, the Browns are in good position to trade down if they wish to in order to pick him up early and if they get scared, i think they will.

11. Washington Redskins: Julio Jones

Being this close to the grand prize (A.J Green) the Redskins might decided to trade up and get him, ive already got the browns doing that though so the Redskins pick Julio jones instead. the Skins might think about picking a quarterback if there are any available here because ever since mcnabb picked up that extension (which the club doesn't have to honor if they cut him before the end of 2011 training camp), he has played like garbage.

12. Tennessee Titans: Robert Quinn

Robert Quinn is pretty good value here for the Titans, but really what they need is a new quarterback, Tennessee just has too many problems on their roster to be able to address them all in one draft, from quarterback to headcoach, this team just seems doomed for a terrible drama-filled 2011.

13. 5-7 Houston Texans: Brandon Harris

If the Texans ever want to get into the playoffs in their existence they are eventually going to have to play some defense. every year it seems like they get some guy on offense who plays out of his mind; Schaub in 2009, Foster in 2010 only to still lose the game because their defense blows. with mario williams and brian cushing are ok so the Texans need the most help in the secondary.

14. 6-6 Seattle Seahawks: Stephen Paea

The Seahawks need a good D-Line so they can stop being embarrassed by any team with a runningback.

15. 6-6 (Raiders) New England Patriots: Derek Sherrod

Knowing the Patriots, they trade out of this slot and acquire more picks. but if decide to stay my pick is Derek Sherrod.

Matt Light is getting older and might retire or the patriots might be deciding to upgrade. Tom Brady is playing some of the best football of his career and that cant be allowed to be endangered by being hit on his blind side, the patriots decide to pick up the #1 tackle of the draft, while Gabe Carimi and Anthony Castonzo are great players, they lack the full package of tools that Sherrod provides. Sherrod would be an upgrade over Light in the Running game which is something the patriots will look to improve as Tom Brady gets older.

16. 6-6 Miami Dolphins: Mark Ingram

The Dolphins running game has been quite bad this year and chad henne and the passing game has suffered because of it, Mark Ingram has perhaps the greatest potential of any RB in the draft and with Ronnie Brown and Ricky williams both either too injured or too old and headed for free agency, the Dolphins need a new face for their offense.

Cam Newton dropping to 9? I think he'll go much higher.

17. Indianapolis Colts: Anthony Costonzo

How bad do the colts look with manning playing badly? you can really tell their team is quite horrible when manning cant outscore anyone, literally every facet of their team is a point of weakness right now except for their elite edge rusher and how much longer will they last, this team has alot of injuries but even in positions where there is no injuries they are failing.

If the colts are going to do anything going forward they need to protect manning, manning has been getting rushed extremely well by opposing teams this season because he o-line is terrible. polian likes to draft all his linemen in the second round but he cant afford a bust here, so they pick up anthony costonzo, who is a good pass blocking tackle.

Unfortunately the guy they probably really want is sherrod, but like i said, this team just seems like it has so many holes right now the colts might just get the BPO and go fishing for linemen in the later rounds again.

18. San Diego Chargers: Akeem Ayers

Ayers is good value here for the chargers who have had a void without shawn merriman, this defense is statistically really good, but if they had an athletic beast-freak like ayers how good would they be?

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Adrian Claybourne

Tamba Bay would be truly amazing with another lineman who could help out Gerald mccoy, Claybourne is arguably a top 10 talent who has slipped because of character issues.

playoff teams soon.
