    Peter King (SI_PeterKing) on Twitter

He lambasted Belichick for going for it on 4th and 2.

I BET he's going to praise harbaugh for going for it on 4th and 5 when everyone was calling for him to punt.

He'll justify it by saying that Dixon is not Manning. Not worth the effort.

Re: Send a tweet to peter king about Raven's 4th down call

The fact that dixon isn't manning actually makes more sense to punt it. This is dixon's first start ever and his second half (and OT) is terrible.

A different situation because Baltimore was actually trailing in the game at that point - a defensive stop alone wouldn't have been enough - they needed more points to win (unlike the Pats 4th and 2)

Percentage chance that anyone in the media suggests that Harbaugh went for it because he didn't have confidence in his defense: 0%

Sure enough, one of the talking heads (Berman, maybe? Don't remember now) said Harbaugh did it because he has lots of confidence in Ray Rice. And not a peep about him not trusting the defense. You know, that Ravens famously dominating defense that had their hands full keeping a 3rd string QB in check. Surprise, surprise.

I like when Collinsworth said it was a great call, sometimes you just have to have balls

I loved how both Michaels and Collingsworth agreed that you "can't" go for it in this situation. Let's see... behind in the game, 3:30 left, and you can't consider an alternative to giving the ball back to the team that's ahead of you? When will the media learn? If Pittsburgh got the ball they would've needed about two first downs to run out the clock --- what difference does it make whether they start at their own 5 or the 50?

    Disable Jersey

Re: Send a tweet to peter king about Raven's 4th down call

The circumstances of the two calls were completely different. Harbaugh made the right call. Belichick screwed up, and the team lost to the Colts as an indirect result. Will there be fans making threads about every single 4th down call from there to eternity in an attempt to defend Belichick's blunder?

Re: Send a tweet to peter king about Raven's 4th down call

This isnt meant to be a shot at the OP, but seriously, lets move on. Why do people care so much about what the media has to say? In case anybody missed it, the media (most) don't like BB. So who really cares what someone from the Ravens did. Besides, this is the PATS forum. :D

Looking @ Percentages........ GOING FOR IT on 4th and 2 was correct by Bellichick.

Baltimore did have a different situation and they had to go for it for more points....

I want Pitt OUT:)..... Good win Baltimore:)

Re: Send a tweet to peter king about Raven's 4th down call

It's OK to have an opinion and it's even OK if it's wrong (according to statistical probability analysis that has by now been rather widely disseminated), but do you really have to keep reminding us of it so often?

I meant to ask this 2 weeks ago. How would you have viewed the 4th and 2 call if everything was reversed and Caldwell for Indy went for it, in NE, using his last time out to set it up, up by 6, on his own 30 with 2 minutes left and didn't get it. Would it have made stastical sense then? :D

Re: Send a tweet to peter king about Raven's 4th down call

I hate to add to this and I'm sure someone else said it at the time, but perhaps BB went for it, not because he had little faith in his defense, but because he had little faith in his punter.

Now that's the last I say on the subject--no matter ow you beg and plead.

If, as a Pats fan, I thought we had stopped Peyton on 3rd & 2, and then saw him back out on the field for 4th & 2, my reaction would be "oh, shyt" - as my assumption would be that the explosive offense on the other side would gain those 2 yards and go on to win the game.

I am sure many Colts fans had the same reaction, whether they are willing to admit it or not.

I was lucky enough to be there and that was exactly my reaction, I'll admit it. That, and what is Belichick doing???
