Sorry..Didn't mean to pollute the board with another thread but here's the official speech from the senior Senator from PA with a noting of the errors in his speech by ESPN. It's not like there's anything important going on in the country like 2 wars, skyrocketing gas and food prices and a home mortgage crisis that might be a tad more pressing matter.......

Re: Senator Specter's speech on flloor of the Senate...

Fine if Sen Comcast wants a full investigation then why not make it include the entire NFL, since he is so concerned about what college and high school kids think of cheating.

They should also look into the following:
*An investigation into the Eagles tampering with Asante Samuel.
*An investigation into the Jets cameraman who supposedly received permission from the Patriots in 2006.
*An investigation into the Miami audio tapes of Brady, how did they get those tapes?
*An investigation into the Colts pumping crowd noise.
*An investigation into how Merriman got his steroids.
*An investigation into the Broncos violating the salary cap during their back to back SB yrs.
*An investigation into the Cowboys taped signals in their 's 90 title runs.
*An investigation into the Steelers doctor who had his hands all over steroids.
*An investigation into the Telescope Ray Anderson from the NFL saw spying on the Pats SB practice in 2002.
*An investigation into the Colts' line coach, Howard Mudd, the so called best in the bus at stealing signals.
*An investigation into the 49ers salary cap violations during their great yrs.

All of the above is "cheating," so let's look into all of it and clean up the entire league Sen Spector.

How about an investigation into why Specter is spending so much time on this instead of helping his constituents. Everything must be perfect in PA.

"Specter said Sheldon Brown played for the Eagles, not the Steelers."

Sheldon Brown does play and always has played for the Eagles.

ESPN meant to say it the other way around. Specter did say the Steelers:

(And that has to be one the funniest "you think?" things I've ever read -- no ****, it's called halftime adjustments...)

I laughed when he told everybody that he didn't know how much Comcast 'contributed' in his compaign. Did your staffs not document everybody's contribution.? I'm sure that you know top 5 contributors in your list. Come on.!

He is a pathetic liar. He only cares about football this time.??? What happened to his careness in the last 10 years.?

Yea, and as Brady said, "Of course we're gonna throw a lot of screens. They blitz on every play!" Classic stuff from Mr Brown.

There is no way to do an independent investigation into one team. An investigation would have to look into the entire entity...this being the NFL. I would welcome that. It would be a hoot. After all, there is not much else left to find on the Pats. I say start with the Broncos....I want to see Schlereth's head explode.

You are correct I would imagine.....although Sphincter will do a soft investigation on everyone else and then come out with a vengeance after the Patriots.....I think the key thing here is that Sphincter is dying from cancer.......Since he is on a one man, self serving,(well that and comcast) witch hunt against the Pats, and since no other senator/congressman/congresswoman has ANY INTEREST in this.......Once he kicks the bucket....this will die with him........

But if this is truly about Comcast, then why such a vendetta against the Patriots? Because he's an Eagle's fan?

I looked at the statement by Specter. He said that Walsh told him that he noticed Patriots videotaping in person during games from 2003-2005 while he was a Patriots season ticket holder, including the 10/31/04 game against the Steelers.

Wasnt that a road game in Pittsburgh?

Yeah, and we got our a$$es kicked. I was out trick-or-treating with the kids and every time I went to a different house either the Steelers had scored or we had committed a turnover. Yeah, there's a game to hold up as one where we used the other teams signals in-game to our advantage. LOSER. I think his colleagues are just letting him talk because he is sick and this is probably his last hurrah. While they are not coming out telling him to shut up, they are also not supporting his BS.

NFL's best team + spygate issue = reason to tighten the screws on the NFL.

    No Jersey Selected

He wants to drag down the Pats while he tries to take on the NFL and their antitrust exemption so he can get a hefty little payment from Comcast.

Oh, but why stop there. Look at section II - THE VIDEOTAPING HAD A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON THE GAME:

    1) TB pre-season in 2000

He really thinks the Bucs showed any real plays or signals against a team they would be playing for real in a couple of weeks?

    2) 2002 AFCC Game vs. PIT

He expects us to believe that PIT had all off-season and didn't change their signals for the first game of the next season against the team that just beat them?

    3) MIA in 2000

The score went from a 3-10 loss in Miami to a 24-27 loss in Foxboro. If the Pats cheated to score 21 more points at home, what did the Fins do to score 17 more points on the road?

    4) BUF in 2000

The score went from a 13-16 loss in Foxboro to a 13-10 win in Buffalo. So knowing the Bills defensive signals allowed the Pats offense to go from scoring 13 points to...scoring 13 points.

    5) NYJ in 2001

The score went from a 3-10 loss in Foxboro to a 17-16 win in NY. I don't remember but I think something happened in that first game that may have affected the Pats offense. Besides, scoring 14 more points on the road with some unknown backup QB must have been stolen signals or witchcraft or something.

    6) MIA in 2001

The score went from a 10-30 loss in Miami to a 20-13 win in Foxboro. Must be stolen signals since there is really no difference between Miami at the beginning of October and Foxboro at the end of December that could explain the 10 whole points the Pats improved.

His examples are all laughable, particularly the Buffalo one where the Pats offense didn't improve a lick from the first game to the second. He actually used this as proof that taping "had a significant impact on the game". It takes some kinda lawyer to pull that off.

    Specter's becoming insane over Spygate

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3395829

Spygate's taking years off of this old hags life lol...

"They are enormous role models for everybody," Specter said. "If you can cheat in the NFL, you can cheat in college, you can cheat in high school, you can cheat on your grade-school math test. There's no limit as to what you can do. I think they owe the public a lot more candor and a lot more credibility."

Re: Specters becoming insane over spygate

If you can cheat in the senate by whoring yourself out for campign cash, then you can cheat at journalism by publishing LIES, and you can cheat at major media outlets by manipulating your viewers, and you can cheat at the league office by covering other teams' tracks. And if you can do those things, you can cheat at college, on math tests and at soccer. And that's just wrong. It must be stopped, and Spector is the man for the job.

Um, is that intended to be a pep talk? Am I supposed to think cheating is BAD after hearing that? Frankly I'm inspired...
