Necroing a thread is when you make a post on a thread that has long since been dead. For example: a thread who's last post is in 2006. You should not post on that thread.

If for some reason the old thread is pertinent to a discussion, link to it and quote from it like it is a news article. Make a new thread about the old thread taking quotes and providing a link, for example.

I personally find it annoying to click on a thread, and see the first post was 9/27/2006.

I bet you do...Especially when you see some of your homer fans own comments go against the same thing they are preaching now. Truth hurts huh?

It's valid to use an old thread to make a point. I think it is better forum etiquette to create a NEW thread, link to the OLD thread, and have a quote to make your point. This way people don't have to go to the last page and search backwards to find out where the "new" thread starts on the old thread.
