One time member of the Red Sox, outfielder/DH Andre Dawson, was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame this year with 75% of the ballots cast.
He is elected in his eighth year of eligibility and was elected just ahead of pitcher Burt Blyleven who fell roughly four votes short of election and second baseman Roberto Alomar who fell roughly seven votes short of election.
He joins the previously announced Whitey Herzog and Doug Harvey who were selected by the veterans committee and the J. G. Taylor Spink award winner Bill Madden.
