Secret rogue planet may be hiding behind Neptune

Does Earth have a new friend? An astrophysicist says it's likely that an as-yet undiscovered planet exists on the dark fringes of our solar system, messing with the orbits of celestial bodies in the Kuiper Belt, just beyond Neptune. Rodney Gomes says the new planet could be anywhere from half to four times the size of Earth and is likely a rogue planet that floated over from another solar system. Other space scientists say Gomes' findings may be a lot of hot air and aren't sure his calculations support his theory. Buzzkills. We already lost Pluto. Stop playing with our hearts. Give us the new guy.

Must be nice being a liberal 'round these parts, not having to worry about silly things like forum rules and all.

    Putting Baio aside....

I'd surly like to understand why, in your mind, space exploration isn't political? NASA is funded by the taxpayers.

Gingritch wants to put a colony on the Moon
    Obama defunded NASA
Bush wanted to go to Mars

If this thread upsets you, please tell the mods to move it to the science forum....I ain't gunna be pi$$ed at you for crying about it.

OR you could simply not contribute to the thread if you have nothing to contribute.

we all know that will never happen.

So, Scott Baio is the new boy in the neighborhood, he lives downstairs...and its understood that he is put there specifically to be in charge...Nahmean?

Little known factoid, in that we have spent over 8 trillion dollars on the space program... imagine what we could have done with that money.

    Is that political????

Actually you made the post, and put it in here, so it falls on you to exlpain why this story is political. I actually agree that if we were talking about funding NASA or taking a trip to the moon, that would be political. But you are constantly posting anything and everything any nutjob says in here.

How is the supposed discovery (which most of the scientific community rejects) of a 9th planet political? I think the political forum should be for politics, not whackjob conspiracies.

Yes, I would definitely consider that political. But that has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. This thread is about what some idiot in Brazil is saying, and something which the scientific community has said there is hardly any evidence to support.

Are you that grumpy old man who sits in his arm chair all day and acts as a kill joy?

Personally I think anything related to space exploration is political. It's of interest to some people, just because it isnt to you it doesn't mean we wish to hear you whine about it. You aren't that important ;)

Ok, so by that logic we can make anything political. Hey, I will post a recipe for green beans and site farm subsidies as to why it is political.

Oh, and the reason Gingritch wants to put a colony on the moon is so that we can continue our warhawk-ways and attack those alien bases that are on the moon now.

Of course by that logic anything can be political. Its not a valid question as to why the thread is political.

If one doesn't think the thread is interesting to those who might want to contribute, or somehow violates forum rules they can either report the thread or stay the fukc out of the conversation.

I for one think space exploration is pretty political. Obviously some haters don't. My advice is written above.

This is a political forum but so what? Sometimes there are things that are interesting to talk about. Do we want to have an outer space forum or a this forum or a that forum for every imaginable topic? There simply can't be a forum for everything. I think this one is better than the main forum for these kinds of things.

It's a topic that's interesting and important to one of the regulars. A lot of us throw up stuff that's not strictly political from time to time. A little indulgence is not entirely uncalled for in those instances.. If anything gets too wacky then it won't have any legs anyway.

In the world of Patsfans.com political message board, ant farts are considered political... so why not rogue planets.

If people did not respond and argue the point, it would not become political..
