As a man of science, I know that we need to measure the entire planet over a set period of time when it comes to ice coverage to support or refute the idea of global warming. Isolating one particular region at one particular point in time is entirely disingenuous, misleading and unethical. Of course, behaving unethically seems to be the norm for those who want you to believe in MMGW.

However, fact is that global ice coverage was as high in 2008 as it has been since satellites started tracking the data in 1979.

DailyTech - Sea Ice Ends Year at Same Level as 1979

Rapid growth spurt leaves amount of ice at levels seen 29 years ago.

Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.

There were periods in the earths history where the sea was like 25 feet higher than it is now. The average temperature of the earth has risen like .6 degrees in the last 100 years. However, the ice is melting apparently ...

So I'm thinking perhaps they need to look below rather than above the water for the answers. In the meantime ... I'm with Patters in that finding new and green energy sources is what we need to do.

    A good site ... http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/

Mars and Jupiter have shrinking caps ... it's all about the solar cycle.

Fortunately temps have rebounded fro the last little ice age. Unfortunately they will be going down for awhile due to the lack of solar activity we are seeing from Solar cycle 24.

Now 2009 is on track to match 2008 for the second lowest years for sunspot activity. The 2007-2009 years matching 1911-1913 for the lowest 3 year stretch of low solar activity.

    Spotless Days
    Current Stretch: 6 day
    2009 total: 249 days (75%)

    The sun today, no sunspots.

One of the global warming problems is they use earth data to discuss science at the poles. What is happening at the poles has much to do with the sun ... yet they skew the data for other means. The caps are smaller on Mars and Jupiter also ... they don't have any humans or cows farting last I checked.

Exactly during the 90's the entire Solar System was warming yet we are to believe that somehow the warming seen on Earth was somehow different than the warming throughout the rest of the Solar System.
