It Is What It Is As good a coach as Belichick has ever been around I don't know that I would go that far with the hyperbole in a statement about O'Brien, but regardless - here's a column about the Pats' special teams coach. āIāve coached with Scott going all the way back to 1991,ā Belichick said on Sunday. āHe is very passionate. He really probably as good a coach as Iāve ever been around. Heās very thorough, great knowledge, work ethic and good ability to communicate with the players and motivate the players. āHeās so thorough in his knowledge in understanding of the subjects heās teaching that you gain an instant respect for him,ā Belichick said. āI donāt think anybody knows any more about the kicking game and the different components of it than Scott does. But at the same time, he is a flexible guy, creative. He understands that players are different and games are different. āYou have to be able to adapt and adjust and heās had a lot of experience doing that. I do think he brings a good passion to the game. Heās just an outstanding in every aspect, personnel evaluation, game-planning strategy, fundamental teaching at every position in the kicking, including the specialists. Heās probably as good a coach as Iāve ever had the privilege to work with,ā Belichick added.
