I think it's the right move ... I'm not pulling for him either so I am not biased.

I wish you liberals would make up your minds. Is this the storm of the millenium and we should postpone all activity, or is it just a little wondy out and everything should proceed as normal?

    Why do you think so??

I'm not against him. I might still vote for him. I voted for him before. I wanted this debate bad. I have never had a more difficult time deciding who to vote for before. I don't think I'm alone here.

What's confusing is your impulse to define people using over-simplistic terms like "liberal" and "conservative" when the majority of this country defines themselves in more complex terms. For you and tree-hugging hippies, the world is simple. For the rest of us, it's less nlack-and-white.

Since when do liberals have a rank file opinion on storm prep?

Brown lives in Wrentham....he's probably without power as are many in his area.

a person still has to take care of his stuff

So, like I said, I sure wish you liberals would make up your minds and decide if it's business as usual going forward or if we should push the elections back to July, 2015.

I don't know what Scott Brown's reasons are...but if this is it, it's a very poor one.

That's the thing about working in the public sector - you kinda belong to the public and your committment to them usually takes precedence over your committment to your family.

I'm pretty sure that every firefighter, EMT, cop and other emergency personnel has personal "stuff" to tend to - families that need evacuating, furniture that needs to be put on blocks, sand bags that need to be filled and stacked, windows that need to be boarded, kids that need to be comforted, spouses that need a hand - but they sure don't get to stay home and take care of it.....nor do they expect to. On the contrary, they know they're going to be gone from home far longer than usual - it goes along with the job - it also goes along with being a governor, mayor, senator, congressman, whatever.

Could you please not call me a troll? I consider it a personal attack, and I think it violates the rules of the forum. TIA.

    i think it's a smart move

it's just a debate, it's not an election

i think the elections should go on as usual , with contingencies for the affected, to let their votes be counted afterwards if they can't make it to the polls during the election

but this is just some debate

I'm not sure how the two are even related.

The people voting aren't public employees - they don't owe anyone anything. They've made no promises, they collect no paycheck.

If you'll reread my response, I didn't even offer any commentary on whether he should or should not debate - I merely pointed out that I did not know his reasons, I was not guessing at his reasons, I was just refuting the contention that a person running for public office saying he "having personal storm stuff" to attend to wasn't an accept excuse.

What a wimp Brown is. He's backing out because he hasn't done well in the debates, and his only hope of winning is through the SuperPacs trying to package him as competent and Warren and incompetent. People will see through him though, and I think he's making a mistake.

It's obviously not the storm of the century in most of MA. Where do you live?

Not really the storm of the century in Providence ...

However we finally got to use our hurricane barrier which was built in the 1960's ... an we needed it.
