This is the third or fourth time in the last few days it has been on. Been watching some here and there.....still gives me goosebumps.

Just saw O-T-I-S' pick what a thing of beauty that is. Physical at the line with Holt and knocked him down than spun around and the ball was being thrown right at him and because he threw off Holts timing it was an uncontested pick and he took off for like 30 yards damn near broke the thing.

Been watching the entire game. You forget how big of a role guys like Otis, Harris, Cox ,Tebucky, Lawyer and others played.

I was rooting hard for the Patriots that night. Love Brady's reaction after the game. Love the story about Bledsoe telling him to "sling it".

I don't imagine it ever will get old, any of the World Championships. I can only imagine because the city of SD has never had a World Champion in any major sport. Someday, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I watched it last night. It's like a classic movie where you know all the lines, and the incredible ending that remains emotionally uplifting no matter how many times you watch it. To this day I giggle any time I watch Ricky Prohl score against us...as he did again in XXXVIII just a little too soon...

On that last spike on the last drive that the announcers were criticizing because they thought it was safer to run the clock and go to OT, I knew I was seeing something special from Brady when he, cool as a cucumber, just ambled in there, checked formation, spiked the ball and casually caught it one-handed as it bounced off the ground.

That just stunned me at the time.. very surreal. In the biggest game in the whole world, Brady is playing as you would in a sandbox.. playing for the fun of it. I was thinking that it was just so surreal- that whole drive.. like "how the hell can you be this calm and so casual?"

Ricky Proehl was also quite a prophet, "Tonight, a dynasty is born." Truer words were never spoken.

Incredible. I remember heading into it just being sooooo thrilled they had gotten there and hoping afterwards folks wouldn't loose sight of what a tremendous accomplishment that was. Then they came out of that tunnel choosing to be introduced as a team...And I turned to my late mother and said they're gonna win this f'in game... Similar to Fauria and his dad... The defense gave me a little scare there late but needing only a FG which Brady would deftly march them to in his inimitable fashion...

I remember afterwards wondering what they could ever do to top it. And hoping they wouldn't be remembered/dismissed as a flash in the pan. LOL

Of course now that they haven't won US a championship in 4 whole seasons, they're bums and the clock is ticking or the window's closing or whatever...

Every time I'm watching it and my wife walks in she tells me the end of the game won't be any different. And I tell her I know, that's what makes it so sweet. When I watched it today I had a huge smile on my face as Vinatieri's kicked sailed through the uprights.

There's a reason why Belichick's defensive gameplan for SB 36 resides in the Hall of Fame. The D was physical that game. They hit hard; especially Willie Mac, who would just crush Faulk coming out the backfield, or jam Az Hakim in the slot and knock him over. Great job of mixing up personel on the line, and using Nickel/Dime packages.

If Bill uses more 4-3 this year, I really hope it looks like this.

Then you'll be excited. One reason for going to 4-3, I heard, is that they want to go back to the classic nickel package.

    No Jersey Selected

And he would've scored too, if one of his blockers hadn't inexplicably run right into him after he had just avoided prob. the last StLouis tackler.

It's a shame that the Goodell-Polian-Manning-Dungy kinder, gentler NFL, in its obsession with the cult of matinee idol QB & scumbag WR personality, has outlawed the physical - yet inherently clean - brand of defense so proudly put on display on that once-in-a-lifetime Febuary evening.

I really miss the aggressive and physical style defenses of those years.

In my opinion the defensive backfield core for that game was the most solid (as as a group) than any other championship year.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that final drive is one of the best moments of my life.

It was also good to re-watch (I've watched on the 3 games to glory plenty of times, but never the actual broadcast) - the call by Sumerall when we won was so lackluster and I'd had no idea - my friends and I were too busy screaming and shortly thereafter ran outside into the snow.

That's why Sumerall is retired and Gil's call is the one always used in highlights. The only saving grace on the TV broadcast that night was Madden gradually developing goosebumps...
