OMG... Saddam is cruising the internet...checking up on all the liberal news. Probably surfing those sites at the same time as Mikey, NEM, Patters et al...:p

You guys have a friend...like that Sesame Street song.."You've got a friend in me".http://youtube.com/watch?v=TeKYgJl3nFg&search=you've got a friend in me

For those of you that don't think that you are aiding and assiting the enemy, here is their leader telling you so, in your own paper.

They don't care. Their hate for Bush is the driving force in their lives.

HOW MANY AMERICAN SOLDIERS HAVE TO DIE BEFORE YOU STOP GIVING SUPPORT TO THE ENEMY? HOW MANY?

Well, I suppose it's true that a couple of Saddam's points are also shared by the Democrats, but that's mostly because of his current situation. When he was in office, he was much more of a Republican: rewarding his friends with contracts, arresting people and spying on people without due process, doing all he could to consolidate power in the President, running corrupt elections, appointing cronies, and lying to his people.

As far as the nonsense of anti-war activists giving support to the enemy, I suppose I could say that those of you who pro-war are giving the enemy exactly what they want: the opportunity to kill more Americans and destroy American prestige and influence around the world. In that way, you are aiding and abetting the enemy. Do you not value our soldiers' lives? Or is your love for Bush so great that you're willing to continue sacrificing our young?

Patters, this is a somewhat disappointing (if not reprehensible) tactic you're employing here. Someone can support a war or support a military action and still value the lives of the brave men and women out there defending our country.

My response is facetious, QuiGon, it's the same kind of ridiculous argument this thread is premised on, and that you embraced. Don't be a hypocrite.

Now, why do you think the question is silly and yet you never have said that NEM's same question in reverse is silly?

Because politically I generally agree with NEM, and I have no objection to this kind of thread. The type of specious argument like the ones in this thread are nothing more than rhetorical devices, which are fun to use, but don't advance the discussion.

I apologize for not properly interpreting your points. I did think it was rather unlike you, and I should have known better.

But ya gotta admit... what Saddam writes and what the anti-war left says are very similar in some ways... ;)

NEM, get your history right. Nixon came in with his Vietnamaztion plan which would put most of the ground war on the South Vietnamese. He ended the draft which ended the protest.

However, he would never had allowed the NVA to take over the South. When he got stupid in the Watergate Scandel and was driven out of office, that maked the beginning of the end for the South.

In one of the most cowardly and disgusting acts in American history, the Democratic controlled congress cut off funds to the South which we promised to continue. This lead to the fall of the South and the death of hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese and the flight of many more from their homes.

If you want to be proud of that, go ahead. If you support that, then you have blood on you hands.

That's when I changed to an Independent after being raised a Democrat all of my life. I could not be part of a party that was so disgusting. They have not done anything since to bring me back.

Am I the only one that has this mental image of responding to Nem the way Sam Kinnison responded to that preppy college student in "Back to School"...?

Don't aqdvance which discussion? The NYT thought it was a story enough to print it. We have never really heard from Saddam in such a tone. he usually resorts to his old speaking ways.

So, here he is trying to be serious...and it's a bad...bad...day to be a liberal.

    so what's next.?

............Howard Dean [IMG] .."Me and Saddam are in agreement on many points"

Nancy Pelosi [IMG] ..."Saddam's letter is proof the right is wrong"

Uncle Teddy [IMG]..."Saddam longs for the day where his citizens lived in peace and harmony. they had jobs, food, electricity and clean water...NOW THANKS TO BUSH THEY DON'T...WE NEED TO HEAR FROM SADDAM MORE BECJ;O;OFOLFIQH;IOAOFHJO;FJO;!!!

Thats how Uncle Teddy end his speeches when he is excited!!!

There is no truth to the story Dean wants Saddam to be a spokesman for the DNC according to Michael Moore

Was it was the genocide of American Indians by our forefathers that made you do it?

He's only the enemy because we have been told he's the enemy. What about our own government who funded him and we gave him the power he abused in the first place? Doesn't that also make Reagan's administration the enemy, and by extention America?

And before "our forefathers" the Indians were committing genocide againts weaker tribes. Don't believe me? How did the Iriquios gain so much power?

And what about the Souix? They were driven out of what is now Minn by stonger tribes and settled in the Dakota's where they commited gonocide againts the weaker tribes and took their land.

And of coarse there were the Aztec's who devoured other tribes.

Don't believe me, look it up.

I'm getting tired of history revisionist telling me that I should feel guilty for what people in the 1600's, 1700's, and 1800's did.

I could say that it was the English, French and Spanish who were responsible for slavery in America. None of my forefathers had anythng to do with that.

Yeah but it's really the underhanded way in which America went about the whole process. We swindled at every chance and systematically wiped them out whilst posturing as the 'land of the free where all men are created equal.' As for historians, is it not important that we remember the dark side to our success and acknowledge it? Allowing casinos is not really the way to make amends (except for Foxwoods, those Pequots can't complain ;) )

Imperialism isn't bad, per se, but it seems to generate exploitation and injustice as a by-product to its successes. To pretend otherwise is like shagging an inflatable doll after telling your friends you had a hot date.

Post #21 and not 1 liberal here has the courage to explain how they can be in lockstep agreement with Saddam...not 1.

But everyday here...the right gets challenged to explain how they can be in agreement with Bush...when they(right) don't expalin they get called cowards and all the rest.

    So where are they?

My bet is thet are waiting for the DNC to give them
the talking points they will need on this one.

I'll find them for you guys...I'll save you the trouble.:D
