Holy Diver's posting on this is a sub-intellectual rant. And this issue is only going to get bigger, now that the Community Organizer has entered the fray (see Drudge), with his typical tone deafness. So here goes.

    Dr. Charles Krauthammer:
Note the proposed name of the mosque, Cordoba, is for the caliphate that once existed in Spain, in the West.

And the front imam, whom the State Dept. wrongly deems as moderate, is an extremist. Feisel Abdul Rauf, remember that name: Power Line - Why Rauf? P.J. Crowley explains

Wake up, America. I think in November we'll discover that people have woken up.

Well - the so-called Emergent New Age Church lead by Brian McLaren(and Rick Warren/Bill Hybels are also active leaders) has endorsed this, which is even worse.

Holy Diver must be a truther, judging from the quotation marks around 911 attack site in his title.

This is an ongoing story that is getting geometrically bigger.

And like the beer summit, BO's inserting himself--as he has done recently--makes it truly national in scope.

Here's the latest from the adult working at Nat'l Review, Andy McCarthy, the federal prosecutor of the Blind Sheikh who orchestrated the bombing of the Twin Towers in 1993, writes in "How stupid does Obama think we are?":

    My Question is this...

Who own's the land that is being sold to the company wanting to build a Mosque, and why are we not angry with the people who are selling the property?

Well, considering that Soho Enterprise, the developers of The Mosque, own half of it outright already, and have since 2006, that's partly a moot point since the land is not in the process of "being sold" but, is, in fact, currently owned.

They are looking to buy outright the building next door, however, even though they already have a 70 year lease from the owners - ConEd.

In other words, no one is now, or has been in the past, adverse to taking their money. They are only adverse to letting them do what they want after their money's been taken.

Right, so who sold it to them in 06?

SO if they already own the property, then I'm sorry, it's their right to do with it what they want.

This is a direct effect from supporting Middle Eastern regimes with Oil money, same with China, we are going to send vast amounts of wealth to their countries, and all it does is come back here in the form of owning parts of our country.

So, sorry, it's too late, it's their land, and they can do with it what they want.

And yes, they are indeed building this at the site of their greatest attack on western culture, and now building a monument to that... This is what selling out the American worker has created... keep sending money else where, and it comes back in ways you never wanted.

Your right to object to the mosque is written in the Constitution and so is the right to build a mosque in the proposed location. There are no zoning laws that permit discrimination based on religious views. Our Constitution must continue to protect our nation against small-minded bigotry, even if the majority believes in it.

The building at 45-45 Park Place had been on the market for years with a sale price that at one point was $18 million. It was owned by Stephen Pomerantz, who died in 2006. His widow, Kukiko Mitani, said she was in debt and desperate to unload the property even at a bargain price of $4.8 million to El- Gamal.

    Read more: Half-baked mosque - NYPOST.com

Which also begs the question, since the price was "bargin basement" and had been for sale for years before being bought in 2006, why didn't anyone else, interested in "sacred ground," buy the place?

And why would "sacred ground" be so cheap if it is so important a symbol?

One would not think a "relic" would sell for 13 million less than the asking price.

Unless it's not so important anyhow.

Good point. Sort of shows this is a false issue, and simply another example of right-wingers acting like lemmings in the name of bigotry and hate.

You have to remember State, America's "New Left Wing Liberal" has a passionate "love affair" going on with MUSLIMS, if Islam wanted to put a statue of Mohammad Atta in Times Square Obama and his Groupies wouldn't object to it.

If it were actually at ground zero and had a dome, minarets and calls to prayer you might have a beef. What you have is an empty room with wall to wall indoor out door carpet two blocks away.

But as we all know this won't stop the hysteria and fear, or stop these inane threads and posts.

Yeah, God forbid anyone should try to put up anything distracting in Times Square.

You know, I think you're right, and it's shocking to me.

The first people who will be killed will be the defiant liberals.

It's something I really noticed in an otherwise very fine movie like "V for Vendetta" that came out five or so years ago.

It's not thought out. Anything but the Judeo-Christian white man, I guess.

Focus, ma'am. It's Ground Zero, not 42nd Street.

That area has been cleaned up, thanks to Mayor Guiliani. I remember going there in the mid 1980s and seeing all the porn shops. In one some Vietnamese lady was shouting, "If you got the money, we've got the p-ssy!" My friends had to restrain me.

Unfortunately we were all a bit tipsy.

Oh Rudy, another person deified by the right.. when he was not dressing up in drag or cheating on his wife ( the Party of Family Values thing) he got a ton of help with cleaning it up.. most of the "hard work" had already started when he was in office, so he takes a lot of the credit.. but in reality there was a cast of characters who did much of this..

He was in the right place in the right time.. and the perfect storm of reforming took place...

Focus, Dude, it was not me, but Harry, who has the two confused.

I was responding to his direct quote about putting up a statue of Allah in Times Square.

I know the difference, perhaps you could explain it to him. I've given up trying.

Perhaps they didn't know a Mosque would be built on the property overlooking the WTC memorial.

Are you sure it overlooks the WTC site?
