    He has NE taking:
Seems most ex-scouts rate him around here
Reasonable pick, and this could happen.
    I can't see this pick
He was in all my early mocks, and I really like him.
I like him, but I'd rather get Chris Davis, who he has going to Kansas City earlier in the round. He also called the pick "a bargain" so I guess he's high on Davis, as well.
I had them taking him in a few mocks
Would have gone another direction, especially after drafting McNight.
Here's the full 7 round mock

No frigging way do the Pats only take 4 defensive players in this draft. And why the hell would they take 2 OTs? They only have maybe ONE OT spot available.

I just don't see the Patriots taking Nelson or Brown. I also don't see them taking Rhema McKnight. There is just too much stock put in the whole relationship things between BB and colelge coaches such as Weis, Hill, and Meyer.

Lande should read his own comments about the Patriots and see the contradicition.

"Pats take a gamble on the inconsistent tackling Nelson because he has the tools to be a big play maker for their defense."

The Patriots don't GAMBLE with their 1st round picks. They take what they believe to be a sure thing. That is why Staley or Harris would be better picks. at #24. Heck, trading down from 24 and getting 2 2nds or a 2nd this year, a 2nd next year and a mid 3rd this year would be a better trade.

Wow, that's a schizophrenic looking mock.

He considers Nelson an inconsistent tackler and expects the Pats to take him in round 1?

The Pats are going to take a guy with a drug arrest just before the draft?

Wright would be solid if the Pats don't change blocking schemes, I just don't see him quick enough or a good enough accelerator for a zone scheme.

Price is interesting and seems a fair choice if you want a player who might survive waivers to the Practice Squad. NFLDraftScout compares him to Stallworth.

Bender is an interesting small school player.

McKnight and Denman seem like nods to BB's farm team approach, both adequate players who could survive to the Practice Squad.

Ecker makes little sense to me. There are better TEs if you're going to use a draft pick, Ecker should be there as a UDFA.

    BOR -
I totally missed that Tarrell Brown had the Marijuana arrest. I agree, though, that puts him off the Pats board.

I agree with many of your other comments

Looking at the whole 7-round draft, it also seems just a bit odd that he has both Mason Crosby and Daniel Sepulveda going undrafted by any team.

Count me out on this particular draft.

Why do you find that surprising? How many punters have actually been drafted over the past few years?

There have been a whopping 13 Punters drafted since 2001. Of the 13, only 10 are still in the league and of the 10, only 6 are still on the same team that drafted them. Will Sepulveda and Crosby get Drafted? Maybe. Sepulveda almost definitely, but there is no telling.

First of all, I've never been a fan of Lande's profiles at all.

That said, I'd take SS Sabby Piscitelli over WR McKnight easily.

Does he mean Maurice Price? If so, he's an excellent sleeper pick. This Marcus fella I've never heard of.

I think this is just as UGLY. I don't see any of the 3 LBs you pick early as good fits for the Pats 3-4 system. I think that 3 LBs is more than enough.

I think that you don't do enough for the Safety position, unless you have Roberson going over there.

Why McBride? He's a 277 lb. DT/DE. He'd need to put on 20 lbs to play in the Pats system and that would take a toll on his speed. Now, if you are talking about converting him to OLB, I'm not sure that is plausible and , again, would be too many LBs.

As for Daniels, can he play center? Or do you think he has the ability to learn to play center? All of the back-up guards can also play center on this team. Hochstein, Yates, Mruczkowski and Barthelmes.

I agree with you on the gamble stuff 100%. Can see them going for Harris. Smart choice. Good player even if a little higher than the experts say.

Can't see them going for Staley though. I think O'Callaghan starts at RT. I don't know if Staley beats out Kaczur or Light who still has contract years, and Britt was just resigned to a $335,000 contract. IMO other needs take precedent over a possible #4 OR #5 OT.

IMO they could go later on second day for OT Denman (named as the most underrated OL in the draft) and have him sit on the practice squad in 2007 and learn for a lot fewer bucks. They could not sit or DNP Staley with his first round contract.

Another rumor is that Kaczur is being discussed as a possible trade target by Cleveland (They are saying decent ILB Audra Davis and a lower round pic). Oakland is desperate for a tackle (LOT)if the go for Russell (or Culpepper) too. This would allow them to take CJ at #1 if they go for Culpepper and still pic up a decnt OL prize. IMO Kaczur becomes their best OL guy, if traded. How about the Raiders pic in round 2 (#33) for Kaczur? He starts day one in Oakland. Now consider Staley in round one if one must.

If I were in BB's shoes, I'd be very slow to take an offer for Kaczur, he won the starting RT job before O'Callaghan got injured. Gorin was already beaten out for RT by O'C when he was traded. I'd want a new tackle to come in and win the job outright before I'd consider a trade.

Tyler Ecker is just way too close to Kyle Eckel. Bad memories there. Interesting that the Pats are going to take not one, but two prospects with character questions. What the heck, I'm bored. It will probably turn out similar to all the other ones I do:

    24. Or not. I'll take Robert Meachem WR Tennessee. Too much talent, too much character to let pass. Lande has him going #41 as the 5th WR taken. Behind first rounder Aundrae Allison? I doubt it. Jeebus, he also has Spencer going #65?

    28. This is hard to do, because guys I assume have been long gone are still available. I should have a solid draft. I can see Harris going here, but I'm going to stay true to my board and take Anthony Spencer LB Purdue, as I wouldn't know he'd drop to #65, and I don't have a pick there anyway.

    92. What's up with the San Diego SuperReachers. Allison in the first followed by Payne in the second? Who is this guy Lande again? Ben Grubbs at 86? Ken Darby at #99? Marcus Hamilton at #102? I'm one of the few high on Darius Walker RB Notre Dame, but he's my pick here.

    128. Fred Bennett FS South Carolina

    172. Sabby Piscatelli SS Oregon St

    181. Antonio Johnson DE Mississippi St- #3 DE on my board, undrafted here.

    203. DeAndre Jackson CB Iowa St

    209. Anthony Waters ILB Clemson

    210. Eric Frampton SS Washington St - Also undrafted here. #4 on my SS board, but could also play FS. Bringing he, Bennett, and Piscatelli adds some good talent and versatility to our secondary.

    248. Enough's enough. I'm taking DeShawn Wynn RB Florida, then worrying about when to use him.

Which makes my Top 10 UDFAs
    Quintin Echols NT Kansas St
    David Ball WR New Hampshire
    Bo Smith CB Weber St
    Dan Mozes C West Virginia
    Reggie Merriweather RB Clemson
    Kevin Boss TE Western Oregon
    Matt Gutierrez QB Idaho St
    Jared Zabransky QB Boise St
    Desmond Bishop ILB California
    Walter Thomas NT Northwest Mississippi

You're analysis seems to support ctpatsfan77's assertion that it would be "a bit odd" if both the consensus best punter and consensus best kicker did not get drafted.

Isn't Quintin Echols a closer spelling to Klye Echel than Tyler Ecker???????

Interesting that you think Ball will go undrafted. I think that as well. But I wouldn't rule out him making a team, especially if he can play ST.
