If you observe objectively, you'll see that on the whole their system is working a lot better than ours is, and has been for a while. The U.S. based health insurance companies have literally spent over $50M on a PR campaign to highlight a small number of customer service issues in Canada, to ensure that the U.S. public doesn't notice the overall performance of their system for the vast majority of their citizens. Check with CIGNA and United Health - they each actually have a full time employee who's job it is to find data on the Canadian system, distort it, and feed it to the U.S. media.


We are very easy to fool. Just attach a label like "socialized" or "liberal" or "entitlement" and 80% of the U.S. public instantly forms a negative opinion.

I'm not sure "objectively" means what you think it means.

I live in Canada with a lot experience with our health care system. My sister-in-law is Nurse in TWO American Hospitals and a Dialysis Clinic. I have a pretty clear view of the comparison, and would NEVER choose your system over ours.

I think it is ok to write in your preferred English, but with words specific to the game like offense and defense (Offensive Coordinator...) - I think you should use the spelling of the game. If I got on Manchester United's website, I would refer to the game as football and not insist on spelling it as "soccer" and asking others to accept my spelling, just because I am an American....

Good point re Football and Soccer. I think that's an important convention to follow. I always refer to (American) Football as Football on here to avoid any confusion. I don't change my spelling, though, as that would be patronising to all of the people on here who are intelligent enough to know it's British spelling. I should also hope that they understand that I am not trying to be insulting or awkward.

Back on topic, I would have loved the JT of a couple of years ago to be on the Pats' roster. I really respect the guy and think he has been excellent player, but am not sure how much value he would add at this point. I have said this before, but AD and Crable coming back should make quite a difference to the Pats' pass rush.

Well... cant say i didnt call this one a couple weeks back... ats my own back:

But that said... Im not upset by the fact that NE wont be getting him, so much as I am that Miami will. He steals Matt Lights lunch money with just a stare and then buys Brady Burgers with said lunch money.

The Dolphins D# will already be improved IMO, Taylor will make them much better than he would us.

And your view is shared by the overwhelming majority of Canadians and British. Unfortunately in this country our media is corporate crap so all we hear is anti-universal healthcare propaganda, hence the abundance of ignorant responses in this thread.

I do not know why other mods are correcting spelling mistakes. I certainly don't know why they are editing British spellings.

Perhaps they will start editing content that they disagree with next.

All I can say is that it wasn't THIS mod doing it (look at my sig - hell, I can't even spell Mod correctly). I dig British spelling.

What I find hilarious is that uber Fin fan Wide Receiver (a.k.a. Aqua4evah) once he heard that Taylor might be a Patriot, went on record here lambasting JT as a divisive force that he doesn't want on the Phins. Too funny.

On the other topic we really need to tighten up the immigration laws. The northern border is way too porous. Snowbacks infest Cape Cod all summer long looking for ice time on hockey rinks. Eh?

...as for JT going to the phins, that would suck. I really expected him to sign with the Pats and I was pretty excited about it. He will be cheaper than Peppers and with now draft compensation. Yes, he is old, but he would get us by for at least a year... that is especially helpful with the loss of Vrabel.
