I was told by someone politically involved tonight, that in 1-2 months, Deval Patrick is going to leave the governorship, and take a job in Washington. This isn't even anecdotal evidence, so keep that in mind. This is more like hearsay, which next to anecdotal evidence, is sort of like gospel. Seriously though, I think this is going to happen.

I've read similar things in various newspapers. It would actually make sense given the fact that he faces an uphill battle to maintain his office. Who knows? Maybe he'll stay and, thanks to Obama, all of Massachusetts will be Republican!

It's "settled" then, Patrick is no longer the Gov. of MA, right. How dare anyone dispute this. Deniers.

I'll be shocked if we make it as far as the 2010 midterms...

I've heard this speculation since before Obama was elected.

He makes Martha look like a good candidate.

I've heard the rumor as well. Looks like DC is wiser then I give them credit for.

It dates to at least the primary season, Deval was heavily criticized for being away from the state for so long around that time. He was also Obama's one of if not his biggest supporter among elected officials then.

The only real surprise is what took so long for him to get any appointment...

How can someone from the state of West Massachusetts be governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts?
