Does anyone know or know where to find the outline for how the first 5 or 10 draft picks of Round 1 are paid? In my feeble understanding, there's essentially a map for how much first rounders get, so that the team negotiating doesn't really have much control. Ideal would be to get data something like:

Draft order Avg yearly money
1 8m
2 6m
3 4.8m
4 4.1m
5 3.3m
6 2.8m

or whatever the heck it is.

For a starting point, go to Rotoworld or some site that has player salaries and find out what last years' top 10 picks signed for. Then add 10%. Then will be the typical scumbag agent wrangling for as much money possible to be guaranteed and a bunch of phony numbers so that can impress potential future clients with their acumen. The average yearly money will probably be similar in structure to what you have here, but bonuses and incentives will be all over the map. Darelle Revis at #14 or whatever probably got a better contract than several guys in the top 10, all things considered.

Here are the numbers from RotoWorld, maybe this could become a sticky because I have to hunt around for it every time...

Glad to know the Jets paid Revis equivalent to the #8 pick in the draft!! :p He's turned out to be good for them, but they overpaid. That makes me feel better. Hehe.

I think Revis has a chance to mature into one of the best CB's in the league. He should make a huge year 2 leap and then could be at pro bowl level by year 3 or 4.
However I think Moss tools him a bit this Sunday. If the weather does not mess with Brady's throws, then Revis is in for a long afternoon.

Carumba! This is what I was afraid of. Picking in the Top 10 is no bargain. Though the guaranteed money is what really matters, I suppose.
