Hey guys! I've missed you! Here's hoping things work out to bring me back to the Patriots!

Been there done that.

Better options in the draft!!!!

Really? Please point out the college prospect with multiple years in BB's defensive scheme who could step in Week 1 with full knowledge of the system and play competently in the dime package.

When you've done that, bring your resume to 1 Patriot Place and demand an immediate job in the scouting department. ;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Betcha they sign him.

Lewis Sanders? Jason Webster? Now Hank Poteat?

You all realize these guys were in the 2000 draft. Maybe that doesn't seem odd the the Pats, now with Capers as the corner's coach, seems to be stumbling upon three guys from the same draft year.

I'm trying to look for a reason, outside of the fact that they are all free agents. It was BB's first year as head coach, but it isn't like these guys haven't been on the market before. So why now? And why again with Poteat? Are the Pats seriously this desperate?

Good role players while the rookie cornerback (s) break in.

Couple quick guys, a big guy and a guy very experienced in our system.

This gentlemen, is how you lay the foundation. The big names make the splash, but the ham and eggers is what separates the Pats from the rest.

My reaction when I saw this thread title was, "are you effing kidding me?" When is Earthwind coming? Wow...

How much will it take for you to stay away?

Not fair. Hank actually made some clutch plays in little action.

Earthwind, on the other hand.........

I heard he's "Impoteat"...maybe BB hooks him up with some Viagra

Would you guys rather see Artwell Hawkins or Hank Poteat back in the secondary?

I will take Poteat over Hawkins who I think the Jets only signed temporarily until TC so that NE would not take him back for depth

I guess your right, maybe Hank gets unfairly thrown into the group of awful secondary guys that have marched through here.

It's not that he's good, it's just that his Pats-Jets experience makes him valuable in my mind when our only experienced Patriots cornerback will be Ellis Hobbs.

We just need one of those "shut-down" CBs that can shut down both halves of the field.

Hank was a decent nickel CB for us, the predecessor to Ray Mickens, whom we picked up to cover Welker. Another of Hank's attributes besides clutch play, is he manages to stay healthy. Sick and tired of DB's who wind up IR'ed.

This guy's should have JAG tattooed to his forhead. Didn't we pick him up for a playoff run a couple years back?

His play was pretty respectable in playoffs. Poteat has height which could his highten value, especially after the numerous over-the-top scorch jobs against Hobbs last season. Over the past 5 years, no matter how hard the Pats front office tries, the cornerback position, along with the safety position a close second, continues to be their main Achilles heal.

Yes...Yes they are.

Hank the Man never should have been released during the '06 season. We definitely could have used him in the AFCC that year, and probably also in the SB this year.

I wonder if Lewis Sanders signed a "Take it or Leave it" deal originally offered to Hank? If so, then that might mean that Hank signs elsewhere. Although, as RayClay noted, having a vet with size (Sanders), a vet with quickness (Webster) and a vet with experience in the system (Hank), plus a healthy (we hope) Hobbs, plus at least 2 high-quality draft picks, adds up to a suddenly decent CB group. Mixon, Spann and Richardson now become the TC fodder/in-case-of-injury 7th/8th/9th CBs, which is what their talent says they are.
