Wide Receiver depth is once again limited, and with Welker banged up the team could look to add another experienced receiver (Gaffney, or promote Ebert).

Defensive Line depth has always been a point of weakness, so perhaps Forston could have his number called.

    The possibilities are endless.

You would think Gaffney would make perfect sense.

    Surprise name: Gerard Warren.

Well if he is never going to active and help, maybe the Pats should open up another roster spot and release Ron Brace and replace him with someone who might be useful.

Warren is a good thought, if he has stayed in shape, if only to limit Wilfork's snaps against the Fins.

How about Dane Sanzenbacher, cut yesterday by the Bears?

    Dane Sanzenbacher - Unsigned Free Agent - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

NFL: Could Dane Sanzenbacher Be The Heir Apparent to Wes Welker In New England? | GridironGrit.com

He had a solid rookie season but his role declined after Martz was canned. Slot receiver who, I believe, can return punts. Ebert may make more sense, given his knowledge of the Pats' playbook, unless BB and co. like Sanzenbacher (?wanted to sign him as an undrafted FA but missed out to the Bears).

While he is good at it, I don't think that WW should be our primary punt returner in week 17 and the playoffs. Am I the only one who thinks that he has taken even more of a beating than usual over the past three weeks (both as a returner and WR)? The guy is as tough as they come but the body can only take so much abuse. I'd like to see them rest him as much as possible in week 17 and hand over the punt return duties to someone else. Was surprised that they waived Logan, although they probably wouldn't trust a rookie in the playoffs in that role. Wish that Edelman was still around..big loss on many fronts.

BB needs use his time machine, go back to April, 2011 and draft Randall Cobb instead of Vereen...multiple problems solved.

Crossing fingers for Gaffney. Similar to Deion, at the very end of the roster I'm not so much looking for flash as I am for someone who can be reliable. We already have enough flash at the top of the depth chart.

Let's see, a white, smurf receiver is available?

Ummm, why shouldn't we sign him?:D

In all seriousness though, could he potentially take over the role Branch has? Branch is getting less and less separation, might Sanzenbacher be a good fit? I also enjoy saying his last name, I think people in Mass country could love it with their hatred of the letter "R".

"Oh my gaud, did you see that catch by Sahnzenbahka"?

No new receiver will learn the system enough for Brady to trust him for the playoffs. I suspect that Slater would just get a greater role if there is the need. The alternative is someone who has been here before.

Sanzenbacher didn't clear waivers. He was claimed by the Bengals.

I am confused? Why are we talking about Gerard Warren? The article linked mentions cutting Jeremiah Warren from the PS and suspect the OP did not mean to type G Warren in the head line.

I liked Gerrard while he was hear, a solid vet that did little wrong but was never spectacular for us but he has been out of football since training camp and we are pretty healthy on the DL right now. A few weeks ago with Cunningham and Jones out albeit a different position it would have made some sense but now with both back it makes little to no sense. Vince, Deadrick, Love can handle the middle and Brace is around as insurance. I would be OK with Warren instead of Brace but see no reason for 5 wide bodied DL.

The only thing that would make any sense here is if Love cant go anymore as I know he has been dealing with an injury but I havent heard anything about him getting worse.

I'm pretty sure the G in front of G Warren in the headline means guard, as in Jeremiah Warren's position.

My my review, this means that the Pats do not have a back-up OT on the PS. In fact, this is the thinnest PS for the O-line that I can remember in a while.

Warren was a back-up at OG and OT, though primarily an OG.

The Pats do have Colin Miller, a center/guard, who entered the league last year out of Central Michigan.

The Pats also only have Ebert as a WR candidate.

It's going to be interesting to see what, if anything, happens over the next couple of days..
