So, let me get this straight. MItt's always been in favor of the Citizens United ruling, he thinks it's ok for big businesses and large corporations to donate huge sums of money to a political candidate, but it's not ok for a union, specifically a teacher's union, to donate? The reason being that it might influence a politician sitting at a barginning table but a politician passing a tax relief bill, contracting to do government business with or signing a subsidy wouldn't be????

Does he even think before he opens his mouth?

Romney: Teacher contributions to politicians should be limited - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

He then went on to totally diss a parent - if you get a chance, find the video - he as much as called the parent a liar - even though there is a poll which supports the parent's position and remark.

If that wasn't enough, when asked if all children deserved the quality of education he received he replied, ""That's not going to be available for the entire nation."

Certainly not if he's president, that's for sure.

Citizens United did not give corporations the right to donate to candidates, it gave them the right to buy ad time for issues and candidates. That is where corporate personhood comes in: the ruling was that it violated the First Amendment rights of corporations, specifically only certain corporations.

You are confused by his statement because you are confused about this issue.

If I pay for your expenditures is that significantly different than paying you?

I essentially free up your money to do other things, in effect paying you money you otherwise would not have.

Which is what the unions did for Obama in 2008, pre-Citizens United.

The sad thing is no one contributed to McCain then.. and no one is contributing to Romney now;););););)

The Unions are the bad guys???? All the while the Koch Bros have either contributed to or arranged to have contributed more money to Mitt than was contributed to McCain in 2008...

That is a lot of money spent to influence an election..

This debate needs to be ended with a Constitutional Ammendment.

Yeah because McCain was outspent 5 to 1 after Obama went back on the agreement to accept federal funding.

According to the FEC, Obama raised $779 million while McCain raised $400 million. That was for the entire election cycle, including the primaries. The point that was being made was that once McCain decided to accept the Federal funds and Obama opted out, Obama outspent McCain by a wide margin. Not sure where to find the monthly figures for the post-convention period for each.

    No Jersey Selected

You guys are all pretty funny.

A discussion on who raised less.....when the less is still hundreds of millions of dollars?
