This isn't a joke: the Monday before the game, he had his ACL removed (it was torn) arthroscopically, and just got a replacement (donor parts). His knee was held together with the brace last week!

I trash-talked that guy, but man he is balls-to-the wall hard core. He has my utmost respect now, way more than crybaby LdT. Rivers, "What's wrong, LT" LT, "Boo hoo my knee is a little sore I think I'll sit here and sulk." Rivers, "Oh, that's too bad, considering I just had my ****king ACL removed last Monday. But yeah, sit there on the bench really helpful for the team."

Article, but doesn't reveal all the details (I know someone involved with the UCSD medical school who told me this, someone that is very reliable not a bullsh|tter):

No more calling Rivers a wuss. That dude is a manly man.

I'm sorry. I couldn't resist.

How is that possible? Most guys are carted off the field in tears when they tear their ACL. This kid looked pretty good last week.

That is amazing.

Wow, that's ballsy. Stupid as hell, but ballsy.

Also, I think John Elway played most of his career short one ACL, didn't he?

Well, I was impressed....I've had ACL problems that is just painful.

Cynical bast-ads!! :)

Seriously? Damn. That is just dangerous.

who was the acl donor -- a superfan?

i love PR as my team's qb, but i will admit he's not a mobile guy to begin with, and even without the ACL he was still our best option over volek and whitey.

if PR was a rb obviously he wouldn't have played

i actually thought he looked better scrambling to his right vs the pats than he had looked all season haha.

i think even a healthy PR puts up the same numbers , the pats just played great red zone D

also i still blame chambers for not knowing how to get his feet inbounds on what would have been a td catch if he was better aware of his position, and the int he got worked over by samuel on.

not that chambers was why we lost, he just could have had a better game overall in those 2 instances.

The Elway thing seems to be a widely accepted fact in media articles, but we all know that doesn't necessarily make it true. I've just heard it brought up in a bunch of articles, including SI and ESPN.

maybe a cadaver, hope our qb doesn't turn into a zombie next season

he'll be dropping back to pass and his leg will wanna start running after some fresh brains

If the Chargers had won this would have been beaten into the ground Curt Schilling-style (honestly, as a Red Sox fan, I will say that I think what Rivers did was significantly ballsie). Kinda makes you realize why Castillo went off the way he did after the game.

My uncle has a torn acl, and never had it fixed.

He can still run... for the most part.

BUT...

if he twists it just right, he can fall from it.

Why he never has it fixed?

No idea.

He is a hardcore old school that works for unkle...

It also makes you wonder what exactly happened to Brady...

think positive thoughts... think positive thoughts...

Here is the email I got the day after the Pats game (before this was made public, and before he actually had the replacement):
Rivers is even more impressive than thought. He had a secret
arthroscopic removal of his ACL on the Monday before the game.
(Secret from the public; it's not clear whether he kept it from the
team.) He will have a new ACL (shaved off of his Achilles, if there's
enough to spare, or from a recently-departed cadaver, if not), and
should be ready to play by the end of next summer. He is a very gutsy
guy!

Just freaking amazing.

What, did they replace it with the stick up his azz?

Tough to believe anything coming out San Diego these days...They have to be the biggest drama queens in all of professional sports.:bricks:
