Keep seeing all these teams passing out tenders, and the only one I recall about the Pats is that they plan on tendering Pierre Woods. Who else needs to be tendered, Logan, Gost?

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

Woods, Gostkowski, Mankins, and Chris Taylor are the RFAs. Teams don't have to tender them offers until 4:00 tomorrow (Thursday, March 4). If they don't, then they become UFAs on Friday, March 5.

The Pats might not have tendered these guys yet, or may have already done so but not announced it yet. They have nothing to gain from announcing it now, and so they won't, as is their custom.

Didn't Woods already get the 2nd round tender? I'd guess Gost and Mankins both get the 1st round tender and Taylor isn't given one.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

If the Pats give Mankins or Gostkowski only the 1st round tender, I'll be miffed.. They are both worth the top Tender (1st and 3rd).

I believe that was only speculation/unofficial with Woods.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

I don't think anyone would give up a 1st rounder for Gostkowski (Al Davis did it with Janikowski, maybe he wants another kicker...), so assigning him that would be sufficient, unless of course you don't want to piss him off, but I don't think the Pats are in the business of giving guys a few extra $$ just to keep them happy.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

For some of us like me....is there a limit on the number you can tender and
how does a team decide what to tender like.. a 1st or 1st and 3rd?
    thanks

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

No one is going to give up a 1st for Gostkowski, and if they did I would take it and run (although I'd be absolutely against letting him go for anything lower than a 1st). I suspect he will get a 4-5 year deal from the Pats before April.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

No, you can tender any restricted free agents you have; there is no limit.

The deadline to tender RFAs is March 4; if they are not tendered, they become UFAs on March 5. Each tender level carries its own tender $$ level that counts against the cap and keeps the player under your control until you reach a new contract, the player accepts/signs the tender and plays under it for that season, or another team comes in with an offer sheet (which you can match - "right of first refusal"; if not after 7 days the team receives the tender level draft pick compensation). The deadline for other teams to make offer sheets is in mid-April. The deadline for tendered RFAs who have not yet signed a new deal or accepted their tender is in mid-July; at that time (or at any time) the team can rescind the tender and let the player walk, or re-offer the tender and continue the stalemate into the season, with the player not able to go anywhere else.

The tenders for 4th and 5th year RFAs are unique to the 2010 uncapped year.

    Players with THREE Accrued Seasons

Right of First Refusal — $1,101,000
Right of First Refusal + Pick in player’s original draft round (no higher than 2nd Rd) — $1,101,000*
Right of First Refusal + Second-Round Draft Pick — $1,684,000*
Right of First Refusal + First-Round Draft Pick — $2,396,000*
Right of First Refusal + First- AND Third-Round Draft Picks — $3,043,000*

*or 110% of player’s 2009 Paragraph 5 Salary, whichever is greater

    Player with FOUR Accrued Seasons

Right of First Refusal — $1,176,000
Right of First Refusal + Pick in player’s original draft round (no higher than 2nd Rd) — $1,176,000*
Right of First Refusal + Second-Round Draft Pick — $1,759,000*
Right of First Refusal + First-Round Draft Pick — $2,521,000*
Right of First Refusal + First- AND Third-Round Draft Picks — $3,168,000*

*or 110% of player’s 2009 Paragraph 5 Salary, whichever is greater

    Player with FIVE Accrued Seasons

Right of First Refusal — $1,226,000
Right of First Refusal + Pick in player’s original draft round (no higher than 2nd Rd) — $1,226,000*
Right of First Refusal + Second-Round Draft Pick — $1,809,000*
Right of First Refusal + First-Round Draft Pick — $2,621,000*
Right of First Refusal + First- AND Third-Round Draft Picks — $3,268,000*

*or 110% of player’s 2009 Paragraph 5 Salary, whichever is greater

I like Gotti but I'd drive him to the airport (and I'd have to get there from CA) if we got a #1 for him.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

Not me. I love Gostkowski but I'd take a first round pick for him in a hearbeat. mankins, I don't know. Can we get anyone close to him in the first round? Someone that will cost a lot less than the $7 mil a year it will cost to keep mankins?

Where do you get that it will cost $7 mill a year to keep Mankins? The Pats have his rights for this year at all of $3 million.. And they can get him again next year for 10% more or whatever the tender is..

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

No - first of all he'll have six accrued seasons by next year, so even if the new CBA kept the uncapped year rules, which it won't, he'd still be a UFA.

NFLLabor.com is a good site, created by the league a few weeks ago.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

I also think Space is saying that if you tender Mankins at a 1st and 3rd, then there's still a chance someone will extend him an offer sheet, which he figures would be $7M/year, which you would either have to match or not and take the picks, which is where he is skeptical you can find someone to replace him in the 1st round.

In the first? We could probably get him in the second, but we'll see how Free Agency changes the landscape.

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

I'd tender Gost at 2nd and Mankins at 1st then take the picks and run if they got offer sheets. But that's just me. I like the draft picks for this year's draft. :) It all depends though. We might want to keep Mankins for continuity... But Imagine having an extra 1st and 2nd in this year's deep draft?? :D

Re: So have we tendered anyone?

IIRC, even if a player signs his tender, he can still renegotiate a long-term contract before that July deadline, but if he's still on the one-year tender at that point, he has to play out the season on that tender.
