I was talking to a friend about what has happened with Brady's injury, as well as the gloating and absolute venom hurled at the Patriots organization for the past 12 months. Here is what he had to say, and I couldn't agree more: "I'll say this. After last year's gloating over the pats' loss in the SB, this shadenfreude over Brady's injury means that I will never, ever for any reason have any sympathy whatsoever for fans of any other team." There's competitive spirit, wanting to see your team win or the dragon slayed, but what we've seen is beyond contempt. At the bar I was at in Baltimore for instance, the entire bar was cheering after every replay of Brady's injury. Comments from people on sports blogs across the internet are similarly venomous. I will never, ever forget or forgive this. It has tainted my perception of Americans irreparably.
