Done.
For the first time, probably ever, I've just not been able to follow a news story. I'm not usually squeamish, but I just can't do it this time...
I have been....and it hurts deeply- especially after seeing those kids' beautiful pictures and reading the snippets about them.
We've talked about it with our 12 yr old son and he's dealing with it ok and talking openly about and asking questions.
Our 8 yr old daughter we haven't informed yet - - Sunday nights/Monday mornings are tough enough for her as it is. We're debating whether to tell her tonight, tomorrow morning or be in touch with the school's guidance counselor in the morning. One train of thought is that if she hears about it away from the school - then school will seem more frightening. If she hears about it at school - well then she is there and can see that all is just a normal Monday for her.
There are no answers and we're taking it one step at a time.
One thing for certain, we're keeping them in their normal routine - - which means all the happy things like watching the first quarter of tonight's game - - just like last Monday night's routine (for our daughter, though perhaps, without the pregame ceremony).
