Report: U.S., Israeli warships cross Suez Canal toward Red Sea - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News

More than twelve United States Naval warships and at least one Israeli ship crossed the Suez Canal towards the Red Sea on Friday, British Arabic Language newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported Saturday.

According to the report, thousands of Egyptian soldiers were deployed along the Suez Canal guarding the ships' passage, which included a U.S. aircraft carrier.

The Suez Canal is a strategic Egyptian waterway which connects between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.

According to eyewitnesses, the U.S. battleships were the largest to have crossed the Canal in many years, Al-Quds reported.

Armada of U.S. and Israeli Warships Head for Iran

More than twelve U.S. and Israeli warships, including an aircraft carrier, passed through the Suez Canal on Friday and are headed for the Red Sea. “According to eyewitnesses, the U.S. battleships were the largest to have crossed the Canal in many years,” reported the London-based newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi on Saturday.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported Egyptian opposition members criticized the government for cooperating with the U.S. and Israeli forces and allowing the passage of the ships through Egyptian territorial waters. The Red Sea is the most direct route to the Persian Gulf from the Mediterranean.

The middle east is where the next Hiroshima will occur, they will be killing each other until the end of time.

If there is a God he must love violence, he has created so much of it.

I watched 5 Lions killing a little baby elephant on one of those bloodthirsty so called "educational" programs it was sickening, God probaly enjoyed it though he's the one that started it all, one of the Lions was trying to eat the Elephants rectum while he was still standing up wondering what the hell was going on, I bet he was yelling "mama mama" in elephant talk.

What the hell are we doing? Where are we going? This is not on the news, so I have to wonder about the validity of the report. If it was really, as the webpage says, "breaking news", it would be on either one of Fox, CNN, or MSNBC right now. 12 warships crossing Egyptian waters is a pretty big deal.

My guess is that the U.S. seldom sends warships from anywhere that's not already in the tropics or south around the horn of Africa; in other words, north atlantic and mediterranean ships heading to the gulf would probably go through Suez pretty routinely; Egypt is a US ally, and a large recipient of U.S. aid. No secret there.

I don't know how unusual the one Israeli ship's presence is; that part of the report is pretty fascinating. Maybe they're close enough now that that's routine too; I believe the Israelis would normally dispatch a vessel from Eilat (?), which is at the pointy bottom end of the country already situated on the Red (gulf of aqaba, I believe, which joins the Red Sea).

But I'm no expert on that stuff. Just common sense, if there's no regular passage through the Canal for Israeli ships, of which I'm not at all certain.

So 12 ships (on the U.S. side) means 1 carrier battle group going through the Canal. We also know that U.S. ground forces were supposed to be out of Iraq by late July (18 months from January 09.) We know that there's a significant drawdown in progress, whether the 18 month total withdrawl timeline is meant to hold.

It may be handy to be able to project force other than through troops on the ground. This could well be the use. But it'll be interesting to see where these guys actually do head. It's just not very enticing info in a vacuum, since it doesn't shed light on how usual or unusual such a movement is.

Just talked to a Navy Seal about this and he confirmed that he is leaving here soon to go help start WW3. He then said something about Skynet or something, not sure what he meant.

Just curious - how many days did the "birther" crap spend at the "top of Drudge"? Not saying that this doesn't mean something major - just saying the thread looks a bit on the alarmist side to me... then again, no biggie, since World War III will pretty much render all the bulletin board arguments moot, what with the EMP and all (or lest we forget, the unplugging of the internet by the gubmit...)

FYI - Albert Pike, a known 33rd Degree Freemason, said back in the late 1800's/early 1900's that there would be THREE World Wars before the coming one world antichrist leader will rise out of the ashes of WW3 and create a utopiean one world government. And then there's the New Age movement, which teachings have come out of the Freemasons, that are anticipating this utopiean "one world teacher"(i.e. 'lord maitreya') any time now.

Not that anything the Freemasons and New Age movement says should be taken at face value, but it pretty much matches with the 2nd seal(war) in Revelation, and the coming beast/false prophet in Rev 13.

Just trying to find news on this, and there is little available.. but something odd struck me.. "1 Israeli ship, and 11 American Ships".... the ratio seems odd and quite unbalance, and are we once again taking on more than our fair share..

There is nothing positive that can come from a showdown with Iran...

Presence of the Israeli ship is an oddity. 2 possibilities:

    1) Symbolic in some way, though I challenge anybody here to explain the value of this symbolism to either nation, or

    2) Something specialized the Israelis have in the region and we don't (or don't have at all.)

Agreed, conflict is always a negative. But leaving Iran unchecked might ultimately be worse.

So conflict is always "negative", but leaving Iran unchecked might be worse (according to whoever), so the proper option is to initiate conflict?

Anyone else take a logic class in college here?....
