Previously this generated quite a bit of discussion here is the final report of this situation..

Report: Much went wrong before BART shooting

Info on the Law Firm who investigated this situation.. not clear why they would choose this agency to do the investigation, but there does not seem to be an outcry from BART regarding this selection...

Meyers Nave had 'street cred' based on its experience and it was probably felt that they wouldn't sweep it under the rug.....

“Meyers Nave has strong ties to this community and extensive experience in conducting internal affairs investigations,” BART Board Member Carole Ward Allen said. Ward Allen chairs the newly formed Board of Directors BART Police Department Review Committee. “All of us on the Committee felt it was essential for the public to have complete confidence in the findings of this internal investigation – and that the best way to guarantee that confidence was to bring someone in from the outside with an impeccable record to conduct the investigation independently.”

Guess there was some wrongdoing after all... all the while some on this board felt that the officer was justified to shoot a man that was down in the back...

Bart needs to get nailed, but only for hiring a guy capable of confusing a tazer with a sidearm. Sometimes situations get a bit hectic, you can't just pick apart the cops for failing to have adequate leadership on scene and not quite acting like a team. Its not like the cops knew this would happen and had a chance to prepare.

In my book they need to focus like a laser on the fact that an idiot was given a gun and a badge of authority.
