Shame. I've seen a few of the Air Coryell era Chargers games. He seemed to be a great offensive mind who never had a defense to compliment his high powered offenses. A true innovator of the game. At least he lived a long life. R.I.P.

Sad news.

A lot of NFL coaches are copy cats, but he was one of the few who innovated and changed the way the game was played.

Coryell's offense was 25 years ahead of its time. The man should be in Canton.

Wonderful mastermind of an NFL offense, some dare to say the best ever.

R.I.P. to a true genius who made the game of football and its scoring as fun as it gets

Agreed. He wasn't called "Air" Coryell for nothing.

I LOVED watching his teams "air" it out! Rest in Peace.

Did you see the replays in the NFL channel today of an epic playoff game; he game game balls to all the players.

He was one of those guys who had a slightly psycho look to his face during games (like Shanahan) and I expected him to keel over any second.

Dan Fouts was also featured; this guy ticks me off because the key to his success was the incredible iron-clad protection that he got in the pocket but never once have I heard him compliment his line. Not a peep.
