As he should. Not sure why there's a black caucus at all, but since there is one, it's not the Democratic black caucus

I bet they won't accept either him or the new Rep from SC.

Republicans have been in it before, so that would surprise me.

You bet or you hope, 13?

I've honestly never seen anyone so negative and so absolutely joyous to make dire predictions based upon nothing which even resembles fact.

There have been only 4 black Republican congressmen elected since the Black Caucus was founded. Senator Edward W. Brooke of Massachusetts, Representative Gary Franks of Connecticut, Delegate Melvin H. Evans of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Representative J. C. Watts of Oklahoma. Rep. Watts elected not to join the group but that was by his own choice and not because he was not welcomed there.

Why on earth would you even suggest that the two new elected black congressmen would not be welcomed just as their predecessors were?

Never mind, don't even bother answering it. We all know it's your own hatred and wishful thinking which speaks for you. It's certainly never based upon fact - or even history.

A better question to ask yourself would be why do the Republicans only have 2 non-white elected officials while the Democrats have over 40? Why are West and Scott the first blacks elected by the Republicans since 2003?

It kinda makes you wonder just who's not very well accepted where, doesn't it? (And if it doesn't - it should.)

I wonder when the white caucus meets. Probably at the same times that the Irish and Italian caucuses do. Personally, I'd rather meet with the Italian caucus if they do there meetings during lunch or dinner time, and the Irish caucus if it's later at night. Oh, and if there is an Asian hottie caucus, they're free to meet at my house anytime. :D

I'm sure the black caucus is just elated at the prospects of West joining them.

I think Rep. West is going to bring a refreshing voice to the CBC.

Yeah...if this dork doesn't shut his mouth soon, he's gonna end up looking like a complete jackass. Unemployment at 10% (18%, really), people losing their houses and jobs still, still fighting 2 wars in the sh!thole aka the Middle East, real terrorists waiting for the right time to attack US positions and his first order of business is putting the New Black Panthers on the Terrorist List? What a doofus!

All the other members of the CBC are very liberal a number a democratic socialist, West will be the most conservative member of the House. IMO they will have nothing to do with him.

Not agreeing with him and not letting him in are two totally different things, 13. Your original statement said that they wouldn't "accept him," not that they wouldn't agree with him. Now you're backtracking and saying they won't have anything to do with him.

They'll let him in - they have no reason not to. That is not to say they have to agree with him or that he will have to agree with them. Who knows? Maybe he'll sway a few his way - or maybe after a few months or years in office and he'll agree with them.

That's because it's been a long time (if you consider 7 years to be a long time) since there's been a black Republican in office.

Good of you to admit it.

    Congratulations.

Now that there are black and hispanic conservatives being elected to office the dems who have run the minority dem plantation are freaking out.

Rep West IMO is looking to tweak the libs in the caucus, this should be fun a lot will be exposed here.

BTW funny about the Tea Party being racist and yet West won in a district that is 90%+ caucasian. Wonder how he got all those racist tea party folks to vote for him?

I don't think the tea party can be labeled as racist, but what % of the district are tea party members?
